  • NIT- UCF 63 - ISU 62

Ouch - that hurts.......amazing collapse and failure down the stretch...

ISU played the first 5-10 minutes like they were going to blow UCF out and prove they deserved that NCAA bid..
UP 18, and even up 13 in the 2nd half....
then, it was almost as if they sent another team out there...they allowed UCF to climb back into it and then gave up the lead down the stretch...

then just as ISU got the world's greatest gift from the refs with a call with 4 seconds remaining to give them the ball back on a held ball call that should have been an ISU foul...
then with 1 second left and ISU regained the lead, McIntosh was doing who knows what but fouls their best FT shooter 40 feet from the basket...
an amazing turnaround to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory....
UCF was a double digit loss, 4th place team in their conference...whose RPI was double ISU's RPI...now the MVC is totally done..

A very very ugly loss to say the least. Not only were they a 4th place team in their league and whose RPI was no near ISU's but to make a stupid foul like McIntosh did bears no explanation. Now I can say ,I don't feel sorry for them being snubbed ,when you consider it was a home loss to boot. I've heard many Bird fans complaining about the call but after watching the replay, it was an easy call. McIntosh road the kid down the sideline like a pony.

ISU already loses 3 of their starting five Paris Lee, Deontae Hawkins, Tony Wills...

now arguably their best player (at least he was arguably their best before the recent knee injury)
        MiKyle McIntosh may be leaving...

"Muller said McIntosh will graduate this summer & has earned right
to exercise grad transfer rule. Two haven't discussed yet."

If he chooses to explore grad transfer - he would be welcomed at bigger programs like the Illini or IU who will need players asap...or at schools who lose a players to the NBA.
Guys like Jon Ekey, Nick Zeisloft, and even THREE of his former teammates, Reggie Lynch, Will Ransom & Zach Lofton - transferred and found good playing time and a shot at the NCAA Tournament.

his final game performance was bad - just 2-9, 6 pts, 2 rebounds
..his knee must not have been good...

This mostly stems from rumors that Minnesota has already been kicking the tires.

really? Minnesota definitely has cashed in recently on transfers (Lynch, Springs, King..)
but they lose almost nobody...and all the players that McIntosh might be competing against for playing time
            ALL return... Lynch, Murphy, Curry...
But can't deny the Big Ten is a bigger stage and brighter lights, where even the 7th place team can get an NCAA bid!

Here's one of the Minnesota Gopher threads on MiKyle McIntosh

there's even a thread on the UConn board wanting him
Jeffrey Carroll With Underwood gone and Evans declaring for the draft, Okie Light is in shambles. They'd have been a top 20ish team next year, but now they're losing their best player (Evans) and their third-and-fourth best (Forte & Hammonds). Carroll is the only one who remains, and he's...

ISU fans have to wonder what is going on with the list of ISU players leaving before they were expected to growing every year..

              Elvis Harvey
              Deontae Hawkins
              MiKyle McIntosh?

I know a couple of those were walk ons, but actually there were several more walk ons, and I just mentioned the ones who would have gotten some playing time..
That's almost 3 dozen in just the past decade or so....that makes Bradley's turnover rate look minute!

Our turnover rate has been 3 dozen in past 10 seasons (well, only 35 players if you don't want to count Maniscalco).

typically you lose more players when you have coaches fired...
what happened when Geno left was kind of unprecedented in all the history of DI basketball - literally the entire team leaving or dismissed all at once..

                      Poor Job

I'll add that Coach Fords lousy performance was unprecedented in Bradley history. I have thought at times that he excelled in doing what the previous administration wanted. That was to destroy our D1 program and talk a great line while he (they) did it.

So glad for President Roberts, A.D. Dr Reynolds, Coach Wardle and his staff and all of our current student athletes.

We have a long way to go yet. Finishing 7th was an improvement and, had we not let a couple games get away, we might have finished 5th or 6th because of the log jam below the top 3.

I am hoping for a nice increase in wins next season. First year 5 wins, 2nd year 13 wins, 3rd year over .500!

Yes, indeed. 86 losses in his 4 seasons, and a bunch of other records for losing percentages, blowouts, lowest finishes, etc. No other Bradley coach ever lost more than 67 in any 4-year span. And we are still paying for the damage.

Most fans think next season will be better. I think our freshman played well and should get stronger and improve. Later in the season, it actually looked like our offense had a plan and we had games that our assist to turnover ratio was very good.

                            Leapfrog ISU Red next year?

Since this is an ISU game thread, I'd be curious what others think on this question: What are the odds -- given who we have returning and who the Redbirds have leaving -- that the Braves will finish ahead of ISU-R in the conference standings next year?

I doubt we'll be picked ahead of them in the pre-season polls because there's a lot of ground to make up for a 7-11 team to overtake a 17-1 team. But do you see it happening next year already?

I'm going on the record as a "yes."

now Jim Mattson is talking about rumors that Dan Muller is top candidate to he hired at Dayton and that MiKyle McIntosh might go along as a grad transfer..
interesting....wouldn't leave much at ISU for next year...
