The value of the Super Bowl jersey is estimated at $500,000 or more. So this was not a petty crime.

the perpetrator reportedly stole TWO jerseys, the one Brady wore in the game and a spare jersey that had previously been game worn, that was also near his locker.

The value of the two is reported to be $800,000

and the perpetrator was probably NOT a legitimate media person but was reported instead to have been somehow media connected with a news organization in Mexico,
but was really a fraud who falsified documents to obtain media credentialing - and likely his only reason for doing so was to gain access to the lockerroom for the purpose of Felony Grand Theft.

FoxSports even reportedly has security video of the prepetrator as he was leaving the lockerroom with the jerseys
