#7 seed Michigan just beat #2 seed Louisville. Louisville played very well, but Michigan just does what it has to do to win.
Michigan 73 Louisville 69-
Box score for the Michigan Wolverines vs. Louisville Cardinals NCAAM game from March 19, 2017 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
I thought this year's Michigan team might be one of John Beilein's weaker teams in recent years, but he is such an amazing coach, they always find a way to compete with anyone. Michigan's leading scorer, Derrick Walton, didn't shoot well (3-13) and was held to just 10 points, and second-leading scorer Zak Irvin had just 11. Michigan's big guys stepped up- sophomore Moritz Wagner with 26 points and junior D.J. Wilson with 17.
BTW, Moritz Wagner was only a 2-star recruit out of Berlin, Wisconsin. And even D.J. Wilson was not as highly recruited as most Big Ten players.

Glad Pitino Lost
I used to root for Louisville because they were in the MVC back in the day. The teams are good. The fans are intense but, sportsman-like, in my experience. I can't root for them because of who is coaching them now.
I'm glad Michigan won.

does anyone else remember just two months ago, when they lost to Illinois, there were Michigan fans calling to fire John Beilein?
The time has come. Beilein had a nice run, but the team has lacked intensity and grit for far too long now. Not to mention a severe lack of athleticism. I think Beilein needs to ride off into the sunset and retire. It's time for a new direction. When you hire new assistants for specific purposes and you actually regress in those areas, the writing is on the wall. Thanks for your services Beilein. But your team is no longer watchable.
But then, almost every year someone wants the guy fired.
gotta wonder what a coach has to do to prove he's a good coach....or are some fans just that stupid....that they'd be willing to risk years of fallout just to fire a coach that will go on somewhere else to take teams to the NCAA & be Coach of the Year?
