Irregardless he should rant anyway. All of the coaches in college basketball that are affected by the stonewalling of the Corrupt conferences should be ranting. Take it to all the newspapers!!

Gavitt was also the Commissioner of the Big East Conference at that time, and Boston College was a member of the Big East. He helped engineer Boston College getting into the NCAA Tournament at Bradley's expense.
Boston College was the 4th place team in the Big East with a conference record of 8-6, and at that time it was rare for any conference to get 4 teams in the NCAA. Bradley won the MVC that year with a 13-3 record, and finished that season 26-10.
David Thirdkill had an injury and missed the ISU game for the championship in the MVC tournament which Bradley would have won if David was able to play and would have had the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. In those days the NIT was as good a tournament as the NCAA, IMO, and the Braves swept through it. Will never forget our flight to New York to see the championship game against Purdue thanks to Ken Goldin.

ISU will probably have to go back to Ole Miss & BYU the following year and have a lot of other tough road games but Muller is banking everything on this season then jump to one of the open major-conference coaching openings next spring...
but there's two big steps left -
first - gotta hope those guys are Top-75, and no guarantee any of them will be - FGCU (they lose a massive amount of their production) & Ole Miss will be rebuilding under new coaches..
..then they need to win those games at home vs. the Quadrant-1 teams - a loss will not help them much

Their non-conference slate was ranked #20 this past year and they didn't even get an NIT bid
BYU and Miss are both return games from last year and don't remember either being 2 for 1. Regardless, you can't win if you don't play....like the lottery. You learn nothing about your team by inflating the record with pushovers . Years of Marty ball at UE proves that
Cheering with pep and vim for the white and purple!

I hate ISU but their schedule looks better than ours. The Nov tourney helps but the rest is not pretty outside of the MWC challenge.

If ISU can schedule better so can we. This years is just not good enough.

My parents flew out to NY too. Bradley lost to ISU in the semis that year (ISU lost then to Tulsa). Braves then did what teams should do if they feel they belonged in the NCAA-- ripped through the NIT. Closest game was 9 points over Purdue for the title.

I'd definitely trade schedules with Dan Muller this year though I don't think FGCU is going to be that good this year (sorry KK). Still BYU and Ole Miss at home are good pickups. We've still got an open date or 2 to fill and it wouldn't bother me if we took a buy game at an Indiana or something just to give the team another chance to impress a postseason committee. Nothing to gain by playing the SEMOs of the world.

We were at the NIT semifinal and final games in NY City, too. A great experience! Below are some old pictures I have posted before.
I took the lower ones when we Bradley fans "stormed the court" after the championship win, and the team cut down the nets using a scissors I brought with me.

Also, the morning after the championship, I ran into the Bradley SID (Joe Dalfonso) in the lobby of the old Statler Hotel, which was the team hotel across the street from Madison Square Garden. He handed the NIT Trophy to me to hold while he went to the bathroom before getting on the team bus to head to the airport.
So I was able to set it down on an end table in the lobby and get a close-up picture of it!

                    Right, it was the semis.

I can see my friend Charlie wearing his Versace wig in the center of one picture. Great time.
I was in the crowd on the court standing next to LaVerne Tart the ex Bradley great.

How do you think I got the high angle for some of those photos. It was one of the TV stations that had the shot of me on the scorer's table.
