  • Bill Walton v Dave Pasch

Has anyone watched any of the pac12 tourney on espn? It's being called by Walton and Pasch. In years past I would watch these two and they'd have a semi friendly back and forth where Dave would try to deal with all the weird Bill brings and Bill would just be Bill. This weekend they sound like they don't like each other. Bill is bullying and making wildly outlandish takes on things. And Dave just seems fed up with it all.

Anyone else thinking the same thing?

I watched a little and thought it was an act. But if you read people's take on Twitter, it seems Pasch is simply fed up with Walton's craziness and all the crap he puts up with.

In the past I've felt it was an act too. Pasch seemed less patient, more irritated, and Walton seemed more aggressive. Just had a totally different feel than the before.

I've been on the message boards for about 13 years now and read about all the posters who didn't like many of the play by play, commentators, talking heads, etc. I could never understand how fans couldn't stand them...Vitale,Packer,etc
And while yeah maybe they show their bias and/or obnoxious none of them ever bothered me at all.......except Bill Walton. He's really the only one that I just can't stand to listen to.

well definitely some are better than others and some more listenable than others...
but it is hard to listen for two hours to someone who spends 90% of the time talking about himself in one way or another (himself directly, his accomplishments, his records, his school, his playing career, his friends, his favorite players, his opinions on everything, etc.) and missing the game.

There's a reason Bob Knight no longer does the broadcasts and I suspect Bill Walton's on his last lap, too

BTW - anyone watching Big Ten network...
Steven Bardo is one of the best guys I have ever heard - just does the game, makes it very enjoyable and informative for the viewer and you would never even know who it is or that he's an Illini guy until they show him - he is completely fair and unbiased and never makes it about himself.
I think he will have a nice career doing the games.

              Walton

I have watched some west coast basketball and it seems to me Walton is a real jerk.He comes off as a know it all and just looking for an argument.

I feel really sorry for Dave Pasch to have to put up with Bill Walton's audition for Saturday Night Live schitick. If Walton would stick with actually analizing the game he's actually makes some pretty good points. But I guess that wouldn't be "entertaining" enough for the casual observer.

Walton is TERRRIBLE!!! The Pac-12 seemed to have some good games this year, but I could not handle listening to his schtick so I could not make it through many games. I hope for Pasch's sake that they finally get rid of Walton. I remember having to listen to him call his son's games, and that was bad, but he has somehow surpassed that.

but you know what the networks look at...

the very fact that message boards all across the country have threads talking about Bill Walton - is EXACTLY what they want...

it isn't what we want to have a guy talking about himself non-stop but apparently the networks love it when the guy dominates the chatter on message boards and social media...they must interpret that as "stirring the pot" and that what they think guys like him should do..
