  • MVC Championship Sunday- ISU vs. WSU

ISU vs. WSU, 1:05 PM Sunday

    Live stats-

    Who will win?
    ISU's RPI is currently 28, WSU's RPI is 38.

Jerry Palm was on the CBSSports Network this afternoon between MVC semifinal games today justifying his bracket projection that has Wichita State among the First 4 Out.
CBS Sports is helping you get ready for March Madness with the latest news, picks, and predictions for the 2025 NCAA Basketball Tournament Bracket.

Wichita State fans love to blame their bubble status on the weak MVC, but they are 0-3 against Top 70 RPI teams in their non-conference schedule, including a home loss to Oklahoma State. So, when they had the chance to get a quality non-conference win to strengthen their resume', they came up on the losing side each time.

I believe both teams are in regardless of who wins tomorrow...as long as the Redbirds don't get blown out by 20 or more on national TV. Oh...and Jerry Palm has to be the most ignorant basketball "expert" I've ever heard.

More condescending arrogance from stickboy. Can't you just enjoy the fact your team is winning? Must everyone believe and agree with everything you say?
The fact is, if your team took care of their own business when they had a chance to get a signature win, they wouldn't be on the bubble. But they are 1-4 against Top 70 RPI teams, and the only win is against ISU, another bubble team. No at-large team has a worse record than that.

You don't get it either. Neither our woes in the first 6 weeks of the year, or the MVC are 100 % to blame. They are both partially to blame.

So no I will not "enjoy" my team being possibly 29-5 and being possibly left out of the tourney because the MVC can only provide 2 possible quality win games out of 18. "Fact is" if the MVC wasn't a pile of horse shit and we had at least an opportunity for more than 2 quality wins after December, we wouldn't be on the bubble either.

Shouldn't have to be undefeated to get a bid. Shouldn't have to be perfect in the first month after replacing key members. We do... Because of the valley

That is nothing new. It is only a factor to you now because it's your team. Ask Barry Hinson whose team was left out with an RPI of 21 in 2006, or even Bradley in 2007 with an RPI of 38.
It is the WSU fans who don't get it. They live in a bubble and think that the world revolves around them. Quit griping and blaming others. Just win tomorrow. If you can't beat ISU, then you don't deserve to be playing for the national championship.

I do too, but it is hilarious to see the wailing and gnashing of teeth going on over on the Shocker board- a 48 page thread blaming everyone else in the MVC, and venting true anger at Jerry Palm, and any other bracketologist who doesn't have Wichita State in their bracket, and heaping praise on anyone who does have them in, including some of the most obscure and laughable ones. There are even fans attacking other teams like Vanderbilt and Kansas State projected to get at-large bids for stealing their bid.

Yeah....I've read their board some the last few days. I even tried to register but I have to wait for an email from them.......maybe they only do that once a month

In recent years, as an MVC fan, I've really enjoyed cheering for Wichita State as they enjoyed success in the NCAA tournament. I will note, however, that I've never once heard their fans chanting "MVC! MVC!" as our fans proudly did during our Sweet 16 run in 2006. And no doubt we won't hear it from them this year, unless they put the word "Leave" before it.

For the good of the conference, I'm glad the Shockers have sustained their success. But because of the arrogance I've seen from their fans here and their coach in general, I'm going to -- unbelievably -- root for our arch-rival Redbirds today. Both teams will make the Big Dance, I'm sure, and I'll cheer for them both then, but today I hope ISU is our conference tournament champion and that the Shockers don't win the poor, pitiful MVC they think they're stuck in.

BU Fans on this site, who are you going to be cheering for today?

Without a doubt.... I will be cheering for the ISU Redbirds. The display from Marshall and fans of the Shockers have easily left them my most hated team in the conference.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but Go Birds. I have had my fill of Marshall and SOME of the Shocker faithful. Plus if ISU wins we should be a two bid league. GO MVC!!!
If you cant go to school go to STATE!!

Shockers. I've been treated like dirt too many times by isu fans when I used to go to games over there.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Hard call. Because we played WSU we should root for them, so we can say we were beat by the best team. I did see a number of "It s**ks to BU" shirts worn during our win this weekend by ISU fans during our game, which was a bit classless, so I guess I can hate them too.

Actually, we shouldn't worry about who wins, we should focus on making ourselves better next year. Having a two bid conference and having both go deep in the tournament only helps the MVC, so at this point, that's all that matters in our world. Our 2016/2017 season is done.

I'm going to say "may the best team win", and when we are back in that winning pack again, and we will be, lets remember to be gracious and display the kind of behavior we want the MVC to be known for.
