After playing last night, Evansville came out energized and lead for the first 10 minutes or so. Then ISU took over and is pulling away. It's now 33-24 with 5 minutes left in 1st half.
The Loyola-SIU game is another low scoring, ugly game. It's SIU 23 Loyola 20 at halftime.
Loyola has 14 turnovers and SIU 9 in the first half.
Loyola shooting 27% , SIU 35%.
-ISU didn't do themselves any favors if Selection Committee people were watching but then maybe they didn't need to
-they sure looked beatable
-with 1:15 left and an 8 pt lead ISU's best move was to keep possession and eat up the clock, yet Hawkins takes a turnaround, fade-away with 15 sec left in the shot clock? Bingo - 20 seconds later it was just a 4 pts lead for ISU. Learn to use the clock! (see below)
-3 games in 3 days is gonna wear McIntosh down - he looked tentative
-SIU-Loyola was an ugly game but a win is a win - and Barry is a funny guy when his team is winning
-Doyle had a chance to prove to the doubters he deserved 1st Team All Conference - but he went out soft.. Likewise Aundre Jackson - he sure disappeared down the stretch
-again- poor clock management - with 20 sec to go and a 5 pts lead, SIU gets free in the front court and Fletcher goes for the dunk instead of dribbling off more seconds.
Seems like a cool thing to do but 4 seconds later while SIU is still celebrating, Doyle hits a 3 pointer and now with 14 sec to go it's only a 4 pt lead. Eating the clock is a lost art.
