but if our guys played even with your 2nd team then where's your writer & your poster who told us your 2nd team would finish 2nd in the MVC & 3rd team would still finish in the middle of the MVC?

Anyway... really happy with the way Bradley finished the year (minus this game...but we knew what was going to happen). I am very optimistic about where the program is headed. Would of been happy with 10 wins but we got 13. Is it too much to expect .500 or maybe even a little better next year?

OK, I have been on the road for the last couple hours, so I couldn't easily post.
After reading all the posts, here are my thoughts. And for the record, I was seated midway between Wardle and Marshall on the bench side of the arena, a few rows up, so I can report accurately what was said.
First, can anyone even imagine what would happen if Bradley fans went onto the Wichita State fan message board and started trolling them and telling them they don't watch much basketball and they don't know what they are talking about? It would cause them to go even more ballistic than they have been all night. It would probably cause a few strokes.
So any more trolling from the Wichita State fans here will not be tolerated. You are entitled to your own opinions, but you are no smarter and have not watched more basketball and become premiere experts above everyone else. You do not have the right to come here and lecture Bradley fans about what happened and how is SHOULD have been handled.
The play that started the problem was ruled an intentional foul, and it was handled correctly by the team of officials. That is the most important fact. Everyone here, including the Wichita State fans, has certainly seen intentional fouls called in college basketball games dozens, if not hundreds of times. There are specific rules governing how the officials should deal with intentional fouls, and what constitutes the level of the severity of the foul. Again, the officials reviewed the play and made the correct call, and the correct ruling. And the WSU player was not hurt in any way, and it was unlikely he would have been.
The only difference in this case was the way Gregg Marshall reacted and behaved. He felt he needed to involve himself and add his admonishment in a vulgar way toward Darrell Brown. FTR, anyone who has ever sat anywhere near Gregg Marshall during a basketball game knows he uses excessive vulgar language and is a real jerk. There are few who would deny this. So Marshall barked at Darrell Brown, and Coach Wardle did not like seeing the opposing coach screaming at his player, since it is the officials' place to deal with the play (which again, they did so adequately by the rules). Wardle simply yelled down to Marshall to leave his player alone and take care of his own team. Marshall then was not going to give Wardle the final say, and had a few more choice things to say back, which prompted Wardle to add a bit more, too. Again, it was all started by Marshall barking at Darrell Brown, and acting like the prima donna he thinks he is. He has a great team, and he is a good coach, but that does not excuse his arrogance and his boorish and vulgar behavior.
The interchange ended quickly, and I doubt either coach had his feelings hurt. They shook hands normally after the game. They each discussed it briefly in their post-game press conferences (see below).
The media people were all on the opposite side of the court, so I am not sure how much, if any, of the exchange they were able to hear. They asked about it in the press conferences (see below).
Here is the complete post-game press conference video.
It does not actually start until the 3:50 mark.
At the 9:00 mark, a reporter named Bob asked Gregg Marshall to describe "the exchange with Brown and the reaction of Brian Wardle". Marshall minimized it in as few words as possible saying "I thought he (Darrell Brown) could have shown a little more restraint... physically... said "could you do that"....and Brian didn't like it, so...", and then he criticized Bob the reporter for asking the question, in his usual style of attempting to intimidate.
Coach Wardle then comes on at 14:30 with a few statements about the game. Then at about 15:50, a reporter (maybe Kirk Wessler?) asked Darrell Brown about the intentional foul, and asked him "what happened on that play in your perspective? And then what was the exchange between you and Coach Marshall?" Brown answered that it was just an intentional foul to keep him from getting a layup.
Then at about 18:50 Kirk (?) asks Coach Wardle for his version of the intentional foul and what happened after it. Coach Wardle's response was much more respectful and reasonable. He said he told Marshall, "lets not talk to each other's players, let's just coach our own players".
Coach Wardle did not include the disrespectful, demeaning intimidation of Marshall's response. -

BU fans need to see it from our perspective. The level of basketball being played in the MVC is horrendous. We shell out the dough for our coach and his staff and his resources because we aren't satisfied with being just OK. We don't want a participation trophy for every team. We play the way we do because we have to. We have to play like we hate you, run up the score, press all game, because we have to show the committee just how much better we are. We have to rub your whole face in it because that is what it takes in this god-forsaken league to turn the heads of the committee members. We could care less about the MVC Championship. We want to play for a National Championship. If your school is so worried about hurting the feelings of the players, shell out the money so Wardle can recruit players who can compete at our level. Basketball at WSU isn't about not about fun or telling players they are special little snowflakes, its not about patting people on the head and telling them 'It's ok, you tried.'
Basketball at WSU is about cutting down nets and getting sized for rings. If you aren't into that, prepare for a shellacking.
This is a pompous, elitist attitude. You don't have to "talk" better - just "play" better as the Shockers have done. No need for this at any level.
Have some respect for those who are not as good as you. Furthermore, since I've been on here, the majority of fans have a high level of respect for other Valley teams and speak well of Wichita State and admire what they've done. There are also some Shocker fans who have been on here who have praised BU and spoken their gesture of hope for our hoops program, which is much appreciated. I hope you guys don't show up on here ever again, because it's poor sportsmanship really.

I am just frustrated that WSUs commitment to excellence is not only not matched by the collective Valley, but rather seemingly looked at in disdain by other presidents. Its seems that only a couple schools give a ****, and one of them is a team of criminals! It looks like schools are showing up to a $50 dance and asking for $5 worth.
Look, I like Bradley. I like SIU. I like UNI. But if you are complaining because we have to throttle everybody we play and run up the score every chance we get in order to play for a National Championship, sorry not sorry. I wouldn't like it if the shoe were on the other foot, but **** it, I want something better than a MVC Tournament Participation Banner hanging in Koch.
I hope you guys are improving. I want another team to root for because i cant root for the Jailbirds.

You probably have a short memory or are too young to recall...
but Bradley had 20 wins, an RPI in the 30's and a TOP 20 SOS in 2007, and yet failed to get an NCAA bid cuz teams like Wichita State had triple digit RPI's and dragged down the entire MVC. Bradley fans weren't happy about getting snubbed but I sure don't recall even one immature comment trying to blame it on Wichita.
And guess what...it happened again in 2008 when under Gregg Marshall, the Shockers were really bad- had an RPI of about 200, 20 losses and one of the worst SOS in the MVC.
Again- Both ISU and Creighton had fine seasons with excellent RPIs and yet did not get an at-large bid....
Again - don't recall the ISU fans calling out the Shocker fans for turning the MVC into a trailer park league.
So Shocker fans - take a step back and realize that you've had it pretty good.
The league you're in has helped you get to the NCAA tourney regularly the past decade and helped you get national recognition, then you turn on the rest of your conference-mates and rip into them. The shoe has been and will be on the other foot some day.

As far as coaches pulling players I always defer to the coaches on that decision.
I'm sure Wardle has pulled players in that situation before but it's his decision

Because you don't remember how terrible your team was not long ago and how it was screwing the MVC over.
Pot to kettle. You're a hypocrite.

Pittman
Why don't we talk about what is really important to Bradley. Why have we not seen more of Pittman all year?He scored in double figures and was named ameron player of the game.Does anyone else question Wardles evaluation of playing time for certain players?

The same thing happened with DLO. He played little or none over a 6-game stretch, then his return coincided with the 4 game winning streak.
The answer has always been, "players get playing time based on what is earned in practice". But, coaches always have other motives they don't share publicly.
Of course, I have heard different reports, and we know college basketball has become much more cutthroat in recent years, and we all want a winning team.
And we especially don't want to be an RPI drag to those poor Wichita State people.
