  • More bad news for Creighton

one of their top players arrested for sexual assault, he'd been out with injury

"At this time, Mr. Watson is banned from the Creighton University campus and is not currently enrolled as a student, meaning he is not attending classes or participating in activities on Creighton??™s campus.???

His name has been removed from the roster (#10 Maurice Watson)

Creighton guard Maurice Watson strikes a plea bargain - he pleads guilty to an assault charge and the more serious sexual assault charges will be dropped.

It would appear tho that he is out of eligibility and is done at Creighton.
Over the final few weeks of the season last year, the whole thing surrounding his dismissal, kinda ruined a good season for Creighton..
They were ranked as high as #7 midway thru the year and were 18-1 with their only loss to the #1 ranked team (Villanova).
But they lost 5 of their final 8 games and went one-and-done in the NCAA Tournament - as a 6-seed losing to an 11-seed.
They also lost 9 of their final 16 games - so how did they get a #6 seed?

Oh Boo Hoo!! I have no sympathy for any team who thinks they are too good for the Missouri Valley

        I know it's sour grapes...but ...
They have gotten a tremendous amount of press for a team 1,200 miles west of New York...
but they are middle-of-the-packers thus far (37-35) in their four years in the Big East, plus in their two NCAA appearances, they are just 1-2

And in the past 3 years since they lost All Valley Doug McDermott, they are only 23-31 an winless in the NCAA
They actually had much better success in the prior four years IN the MVC than in the four years since- and they still sold out every game

Sour grapes is right. 2 NCAA appearances would be great, 1-2 or not.

but I think they would have probably had 3 - maybe 4 in the last 4 years had they stayed in the Valley

Just saying that 2 tournaments would be ok with me.

Well, as much as it pains me, I think Wichita was too good for the Valley over the past 3-4 seasons. Time to move one...gonna miss the Shox.
