yes- good for Nate- he's part of a single play in a season that will be one of their all time greats & a legacy -
Just maybe, in a certain manner, it is Northwestern best play ever!
And don't look now but Illinois might be playing their way into the Big Dance as they beat Michigan State 73-70 to go to 18-12 on the season, 8-9 in conference play. They finish at last place Rutgers and if they can win their 1st round game in the conference tournament a 20 win season and a .500 record in the conference could get them in which could hurt Illinois State and Wichita if they don't win Arch Madness.
Everybody's obviously been upset at how bad BU has been this decade but consider Northwestern and tell me how bad we've had it. The Wildcats, with their win, set a school record for wins in a season with 21. They also secured their first winning Conference record since the 1967-68 season and with their 10 conference wins it's the first time they've done that since the !932-33 season. Mildcats no more.
The HEAD of the NCAA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT SELECTION COMMITTEE is the Michigan State Athletic Director Mark Hollis!......
I guess we also know if Northwestern is gonna get in, too...
interesting how many Big Ten AD's are sitting in important positions on the Tournament Selection Committee
The Illini's march to the big dance might have had the final nail put into its coffin as they lose to last place Rutgers on a 3 pointer in the final seconds. I think they will have to run the table in the Big Ten tournament to get there now. More speculation about the future of John Groce is certainly going to get a lot louder after that one.

IMO, Big 10 schools shouldn't be hiring coaches from the mid-majors like Illinois did in basketball and football. Hopefully Lovie will turn the football program around.
Northwestern just lost at home to Purdue in their final scheduled game.
Virtually everyone has them in the tournament prior to today's loss, and that shouldn't change too much by losing to Purdue. But they could be in trouble if they lose their opening Big Ten tournament game. Their RPI is 53 (Illinois' RPI is 57).
IMO any team that has a loosing record in conference play should not get a bid to the tournament. If they would happen to win the conference tourney that would be the only
way they can punch their ticket.
ESPN's Joe Lunardi now has Wichita State as the auto bid with a #8 seed.
He has Illinois State as the final team in the tournament field of 68, as an #11 seed and playing in the "play-in" round in Dayton-

CBSSports's Jerry Palm has not updated his bracketology page since Sunday morning, however, he wrote this article late Sunday PM saying he now has WSU as an #11 seed, and Illinois State as the 4th team out of the tournament-
The Shockers took care of business by winning Arch Madness, but Illinois State now has to wait. Where do the Redbirds stand when compared to the competition?
