Valparaiso Head Coach Matt Lottich:
"We've had conversations with some postseason tournaments. But we haven't gotten that far yet because we have to see how this plays out, then we have to have conversations with our guys."
For the record, Valparaiso finished in last place with an overall record of 13-16, an MVC record of 6-12, and conference-worst RPI of 178. Plus they average only 2,722 attendance at home.
My question is, what tournament would want them?
And Lottich supposedly said: "We've had conversations with some postseason tournaments."
How many tournament is he referring to? By my count, there are only 2 surviving postseason tournaments other than the NCAA and NIT, which he is obviously not referring to since they do not discuss participation with coaches.
It appears the Vegas 16 postseason tournament may be permanently dead. It started in 2016, was played at the Mandalay Bay and was originally planned to have 16 participants. However, they could only get 8 teams to participate in that first year, 2016. Then after trying to organize the Vegas 16 again in 2017, they finally cancelled it late, and suggested that it would return in 2018. However, there has been no announcement made by the sponsor (bdGlobal), there is no mention of the tournament anywhere on the sponsor's website, and even all the old pages referring to the tournament appear to have been deleted. So it looks like the tournament will probably not be back.
The CIT website has information about the 2019 CIT, which starts on Monday, March 12, so it looks like that tournament will be held for their 10th year-
And the CBI website doesn't look like it has been updated since the end of last year's tournament, but it is expected back in 2018.
And note that the 2015 winner of the CBI was Loyola. 3 years later, they won the MVC title, and are the favorite to win the 2018 MVC Tournament, and play in the NCAA.

Just my opinion, but I think this kind of more vague statement, "We're not planning on him playing Friday", is the kind of thing they'd say even if they thought he would be able to play. So let's not get too worried. This is why our coaches have recruited other capable point guards.Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

The fact that he hasn??™t been ruled out 4 days after the injury is a good sign.... or crafty coaching. What part of illegal don't you understand?
