  • New name - Class of 2018 visiting Bradley this week

Chicago Simeon's Messiah Jones is visiting Bradley this week
per his own conversation with one of the top Chicago recruiting gurus

Jones performed well in this week's Chicago Public League Championships that Simeon won
    In Friday's game: 21 pts, 18 rebs, 6 blocks
Chicago Simeon product Messiah Jones is one to watch in the 2018 class.

He might fit midmajor pretty well - he's not a guard but at 6-5 he may not get recruited by the big schools

Jones is on left in both pictures

on the right in this picture

Other Simeon players Kezo Brown & Melo Burrell also played exceptionally well and it has previously been reported that Bradley has offered Kezo Brown

How long before the first pun joke using his name?

I am sure Dave Reynolds is already working on it

It would be nice to start getting players from Illinois again. There is enough talent in our own state to be competitive in the Valley.

we have offered or are recruiting many of the Simeon team - Evan Gilyard, Kezo Brown, Talen Horton-Tucker, Messiah Jones..
...we've also been watching many other Chicago kids - on Morgan Park, Kenwood, Curie & Whitney Young

Chin is at UIC now, oughta be a piece of cake to be landing all those Chicago kids, but they only have one Chicago kid on the roster...and none signed or committed for any upcoming year...
..so we got as many as they do...

I would have to think that if Messiah Jones is making a visit to Bradley tomorrow (and that's what he said),
and that we have a game tomorrow (vs. Missouri State), then he will be at the game...
Let's hope we play well, have a big, enthusiastic crowd and impress him & he goes back & tells all his teammates what a great time he had and how great our fans & our facilities are!

we talk a lot about the kids out of Chicago...but looking back a whole decade...
can anyone list the top guys that came out of Chicago and played college ball who EXCELLED and made an impact??
              ABOVE HAT WAS EXPECTED??
Seems a lot of Chicago kids underperform ...

NOTE- I am not counting the sure fire, superstar 5-Star kids like Jabari Parker, Derrick Rose, Jalen Brunson...
Those guys do great but they would be coming to Bradley anyway.

I am talking about all the type we talked up in the Chin Coleman conversations - all those dozens of Chicago kids that showed up here at Bradley games and Dave Reynolds called it a defining moment.

I can't think of any of them who have really helped anyone anywhere.
Maybe you could throw out Milton Doyle..but he was a Kansas recruit - he should have been good- and yet it took four years for him to even get into the conversation of helping Loyola to 5th place! Not exactly mu definition of exceeding expectations...
Heck....we got kids all over the place who exceed expectations - Alec Peters, Brett Bisping, Nate Kennell...

I think Walt Lemon had a better career than most thought he would but as I look at the rosters of all the Illinois DI schools - most don't even have a Chicago kid (BU, ISU, SIU, etc...)
The only solid kid on the Illini is from
Indiana, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Kansas - are usually loaded with Chicago kids but not this year -
DePaul has a couple Chicago kids but they're a permanent last place team!

I am saying CHICAGO - not to include Maywood, Bolingbrook, etc..
              CHICAGO...

              Check this out...

Here's the ILLINOIS player rankings currenly on one of the major recruiting sites
The 247Sports rankings are determined by our recruiting analysts after countless hours of personal observations, film evaluation and input from our network of scouts.

Their current TOP 12 players in Illinois are NOT from Chicago!!!
              Has that ever happened?

What's up... Chicago was always a basketball hotbed....is it fading?
              We're recruiting several 2017, 2018, 2019 kids there...

Well, not sure he'd be the "next" messiah, would he? For BU?
