Leading contender for this week's Newcomer award has to be Alize Johnson who had a 23 pt/21 rebound game to go with a 2nd game of 17 pts/8 rebs
The Player of the Week might just be Alize Johnson but...I have a feeling they'd prefer to give it to one of the contenders in the final weeks of the season...and
so that opens the door for
Deontae Hawkins - who had games of 19 pts/3 rebs and 16 pts/11 rebs - helping the Redbirds past Missouri State & Loyola in two really close squeakers -
Yup - the Player of the Week in Deontae Hawkins as expected.... but I still think the Player of the Year will go to Lee
Newcomer is Alize Johnson - his 6th NOW this season, pretty much guaranteeing he will land the Newcomer of the Year Award
most will notice that Wichita Shocker players don't win these awards all that often - given their dominance in the MVC, but it's because no one player stands out, they play such a good brand of team-basketball and they win without any one player dominating.Comment
