Illinois State at Wichita State is on ESPN2. The game stayed close for the first 14 minutes, and WSU lead 20-18.
But WSU put the clamps on defensively, and ISU has taken a string of somewhat bad shots. ISU went over 5 minutes without scoring, and WSU outscored them 13-2 in the final 6 minutes of the 1st half.
      Halftime score-
      Illinois State 22
      Wichita State 35

Box score for the Wichita State Shockers vs. Illinois State Redbirds NCAAM game from February 4, 2017 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

The second half is starting just like the last 6 minutes of the first half. ISU can't get a good shot, and Wichita State has outscored them 24-4 over the first 7 minutes to take a commanding 59-26 lead.

Wichita laid the smackdown on ISU Red 86-45. WOW!

Wichita State lead by as much as 44 points and went on to annihilate ISU 86-45, even with their reserves and walk-ons playing much of the 2nd half. It is their 2nd largest MVC margin of victory in their history!

The last few games without McIntosh have not been the Redbirds best. I do think Wichita knew that and was licking their chops for this game. Their only home loss in their last 54 home games came against Oklahoma State earlier this year. You don't get beat by over 40 very often so it'll be interesting to see how the Redbirds respond at Drake on Tuesday.

                Two corrections..
We lost at Intrust Bank Arena this year to OSU.

Only loss at Koch in the last 54 was last year vs UNI.

Redbird fans & Muller gotta be worried..
ISU starters played no more than Shocker starters, but ISU depth and bench can't compare

I think we gotta at least a chance to hang with them in our rematch if we can avoid getting in the hole

The problem is, we are in the hole before the game even starts. Even without MacIntosh, we lose by 25-30.

I think this weekend has been "a defining moment" for our guys...(using someone else's line)
they heard about how much success the '95-96 guys had even tho they started slow and didn't win a lot as freshmen and sophomores, they gained a ton of confidence with that great started and 1st half yesterday, plus it's just the opposite with ISU - every one of their players and their coaches seemed to continuously be looking over their shoulder to see if McIntosh was suiting up to help...
they looked shaken, even scared and timid about doing anything - the deer in the headlights-look...
Hoping that continues at least thru Feb. 11th

Pantagraph writer pretty much outlines the narrow path that ISU must follow if they hope to go to the NCAA Tourney..
They must either win the MVC Tourney (would need McIntosh back at 100% and everyone play the game of their lives),
or they will need to win out and finish the MVC race 17-1, and then play close and narrowly lose to Wichita in St. Louis.
Any other scenario then they will likely be passed over for some major conference 5-6th place team looking for an at-large bid.
If someone other than Wichita or ISU win in St. Louis, then perhaps nobody else will go as Wichita has played a weak non-conference schedule - but surely two teams won't go and yesterday went a long way to sealing who would be first in line for at-large consideration.
