a couple things seem to stand out

-Muller "wouldn't say what Monday's MRI results were on McIntosh's sore right knee"
If the MRI was just fine, wouldn't he have said so? It would seem the only reason to hide something is if there's something that could in any way be "used" by the opponent to know McIntosh's weakness or limitation.
Kinda why hockey teams never reveal the specifics of injuries.

-they simply can NOT afford to play him if he's injured in any way and would be risking bigger, longer term problems (or a risk to McIntosh's future career) in a season where an NCAA bid is theirs to lose if they don't have McIntosh down the stretch and in the MVC Tourney

-"..during a news conference Tuesday afternoon before practice. (Muller said) "I don't know if he'll be able to play. He did not practice (Monday)."

so I think he won't start and probably won't play - but if Muller sees that a loss could be imminent and he judges he has to have McIntosh, then I think that option is still a possibility.

A very strange turn of events- after MiKyle McIntosh had his MRI on his sore knee Monday, Coach Dan Muller would not reveal what it showed. But he seemed to downplay the seriousness of the unjury, and said: "Not sure Wed. status for UNI....It will be up to him in a lot of ways."

But then earlier tonight, Muller told ESPN that McIntosh was found to have a torn meniscus in his knee, he had surgery today, and will be out for about 3 weeks.

Is this just a case of misjudging the seriousness of the injury? Or is it a case of Muller playing games with the media and not wanting to reveal the injury to allow UNI time to prepare to play ISU without him? If the latter were the case, then why would he spill the beans well before the game (their game is at 8:00 PM)?

at the very time Dan Muller said this Tuesday afternoon...
"Regarding MiKyle McIntosh availability for Wednesday against UNI, ISU coach
Dan Muller said: "It will be up to him in a lot of ways.""

he surely had to have already had some idea that McIntosh was gonna have surgery the very next morning..
Those kinda things have to be scheduled and the patient would need to know in advance to get the proper preparation and stay NPO, etc...
        So was Muller lying?
