  • Some turmoil at Missouri State?

not much being reported...but one of their key newcomers has left or just quit the team according to reports..

Juco Point guard Ronnie Rousseau III - who was highly touted and who played extremely well early on this season, and who was on target to be in the discussion for All Newcomer Team, has possibly fallen into disfavor per Head Coach Paul Lusk...although no full answer has been given.
This does have a familiar ring to it...as just recently - their former HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE point guard Marcus Marshall also had recurring issues with the head coach and was also told to take a hike, and Marshall is now a star at Nevada (as we saw earlier this season).

He was starting & playing 30 minutes per game up til December 31, when he had a really bad game, going 0-6 and scoreless.
He was benched the next couple games (for reasons that are unclear but rumble has it there might have been some words..or it may some "personal issue") - they first cited an ankle injury then they sent out a press statement saying Rousseau's absence was not due to the injury - but something has clearly happened between Rousseau & the coach and now he is reportedly gone....although just recently we saw that TJ Bell was gone from Indiana State - then a couple weeks later he made a return.

Since his absence from the lineup - Missouri State, who were previously 11-4 and 2-0 in the MVC - have now gone 2-3 and are 13-7 overall, and 4-3 in the MVC

He was injured in the 2nd game of the MVC season. His brother died the day after. He has asked for some extended time away from the program to attend to family matters. That is all that is being reported. I don't know where you got your information. I don't think it is a coach issue, as both have publicly stated his absence has nothing to do with basketball.

from what was reported..from numerous recent sources...
first it was reported it was an ankle injury responsible - LINK

Then there were reports that conflicted 180 degrees - that it never was an ankle injury and was something else completely - a personal issue
"His absence from the team is not related to the injury."
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter [wpbvideo id=’303312′]   SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State men’s basketball coach Paul Lusk announced Saturday (Jan. 7) that junior guard Ronnie Rousseau III is expected to miss additional time away from the

Then one of your own writers hinted at something more...calling it a "drama"...

"He went home to Cincinnati. No word on if he'll be back for the beginning of the spring semester."

obviously he had words with the coach since the coach is speaking for him and making Rousseau's public statements for him...
and everything else is simply factual including the team's dropoff in performance.

Really sorry to hear this. It's another reminder that, in the greater scheme of things, college basketball is fun but unimportant.

definitely Missouri State not the same team with Rousseau missing...

...I am also watching the Marquette-Creighton game and Creighton is 18-1 but just lost their point guard to injury....clearly it makes a difference...
They also are nowhere near the same team as they were with Watson..
they are getting soundly beaten at home by Marquette - currently 62-46

as I watch the Marquette-Creighton game, can't help but see & hear how many times they make excuses for Creighton getting hammered by 15-20, since they lost ONE single player to injury

OMG- these big conference teams are sooooo much deeper than mid-majors, and yet when we'd lose a player to injury, there was no mercy at all...the media and certain fans endlessly criticized the coach and his coaching ability..
If McDermott was the great coach everyone was saying he is just 3 days ago - then how come one player's out and suddenly they gotta be making constant excuses for him?

As noted, Ronnie Rousseau III started at Missouri State's for 14 games in the first half of the season and was one of their top players before he missed a game due to an ankle injury. However, he then left school and returned home and has not returned to the team due to what has been announced as "personal reasons". MSU was 11-4 with him playing, and has been just 3-5 without him.
The reports about his situation have been vague, and nobody would say if or when he might return.
Tonight, Head Coach Paul Lusk announced Rousseau would not be returning to Missouri State this season due to his personal issues, but did not address whther he might return next season.
