Loyola shot incredibly well. I doubt if they shoot that well again. However, we have to get a lot tougher and more physical on defense. Most of our fouls are committed with hands straight up in the air or by reaching. When a team like Loyola is shooting as well as they did last night, you have to commit a hard foul to make them think twice when they shoot the next time. This doesn't mean to intentionally hurt a player and get a technical. I can't remember the last time we created a hard foul on a perimeter shooter.

There is absolutely NO reason Suggs should not be getting more minutes. We have a starting shooting guard out, Van Bree was playing awful, IMO, DLO was not playing well, and an opposing 6'4" guard was going off on us tonight.
Also, why in the world did it take 4-5 mins in the second half before Kennell came into the game?
He has by far and away the best basketball IQ on this team, and its not really close. He's not nearly the quickest, the biggest, or the strongest, yet he consistently gets into the teeth of the defense and creates shots for himself and others.
And back to Suggs...2pts, 4reb, 1 assist in 4 mins. Held Doyle scoreless, and we cut 10 pts off their lead before we began fouling at the end of the game. I know saying he kept Doyle scoreless is skewed, but a fact is a fact...he was scoreless with about 8 possessions of Suggs guarding him.
Looking at a situation like Suggs', I can only think of 4 possible reasons why a player of his caliber isn't playing over what's playing ahead of him:
1. The player has a bad attitude that the public doesn't see ( I doubt this)
2. Injury (We've been told this isn't the case)
3. Coach Incompetence (I think Coach has seen enough basketball to rule this out)
4. Coach is forcing him out ( I sure hope this isn't the case, but I have a bad feeling)
Bit of a rant here, sorry, but I just feel like we aren't getting the best out of this team, and feel really bad for Ronnie. I think he could really help us out if he could see the floor.DUBL R 1

Final Score: Loyola 78-Bradley 62
Our coaches seem unable to get players "up" for games and do not seem to be able to handle the mental aspects of this team. Very little motivation and players from last year now hang their heads and have no confidence at all. Van Bree and D Lo played reasonable well last year as Freshmen but have totally lost it this year. Van Bree isn't adding anything to this team and D Lo now plays afraid and has no confidence offensively. What are the coaches doing to create this? IMO, something is very wrong between this team and the coaches. The BU program is not really building. IMO Chris Reynolds needs to take a hard look at what is going on.

I know people are clamoring for Suggs but it doesn't seem to me that his play would change any results of games played this year......we know we are two over so it's kind of obvious who's outside looking in....Wardle knows what he needs to do to compete.....knowing is different than doing though too.

I guess the frustrating part of this team is that we do have talent but we make too many basic mistakes. I know we have the built in excuse that we're one of the youngest teams in America but sometimes we can't even do the simple things and it's just frustrating to watch. I really like our freshman class. Our sophomore class needs to step it up. Our junior class needs to be more consistent. The next game on Wednesday presents a good chance for a win as UNI is there to be had. Take care of the ball, execute on offense, don't leave guys wide open. Do those basic things and the wins will come. Sounds pretty simple doesn't it.

Is Doyle really that good on defense?
Without doubt Milton Doyle was hitting everything he shot, but he played for 38 minutes and had ZERO fouls called on him. Is he really that good on defense? Also, Loyola had the game won with 2-3 minutes to play and Doyle already had scored 35 points. Why did Moser feel he had to leave Doyle in the game? Not exactly good sportsmanship.

I once asked Coach Molinari what goes thru his head when he's getting beat by 30 and the opposing coach still has his starters in...
his answer was that he always appreciates when the opposing coach throws his best cuz that's how you learn to get better - but in the end you can't coach TWO teams - the instant you get worried about who he's playing then you've been outcoached.
