Wichita State is coming off a relatively close 80-72 win on the road at Indiana State. Wichita State was favored in that game by 10.5 points. Wichita State starts 2 junior college transfers- 6'9" junior Darral Willis, who leads them in scoring (12.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg), and 6'1" junior Daishon Smith who averages just 6.6 ppg, but is the team's assist leader (3.2 apg) and one of their best 3-point shooters (38.9%). Their other starters are 6'8" sophomore Markis McDuffie (12.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 41.9% from three), 6'4" redshirt-freshman Landry Shamet (9.5 ppg, 37.1% from three), and 6'6" junior Zach Brown (9.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 36.7% from three).
Brown was just 1-9 from the floor against Indiana State.

Are these refs afraid they're going to be assaulted by Marshall if they don't call everything in wichitas favor? This is frustrating to watch.

Not the reason we are losing, that would be the turnovers, but come on be reasonable.

I do believe he intimidates many refs. That charging call on Brown was absurd. Shamet was lurching backwards and laterally as he threw his body in front of Brown. Shamet's feet not only weren't set, they weren't even on the floor.

We knew this was going to be a blowout loss and the first half proved it out. Sit the starters and go deep into the bench so nobody gets hurt. Nothing to play for here today.

the good- 45% FG shooting, 89% FT shooting, 13 pts off the bench, and we're actually outscoring them 12-8 in points in the paint..

but the bad - a replay of practically every game this season...
16 TO, giving up 23 pts off turnovers...
we play out of control and make horrible passes and give up open shots..

I would be less bothered if we went 0-25 and lost by 50 than if we fail to clean up the turnovers

We are completely overmatched, and that goes for the coaching staff too, IMO.

and we have given up 35 points off turnovers...

and with 5 min to go and ahead by 40- they have all five starters in the game...

the only way to possibly beat a superior team is to be smarter, control the ball, and take good shots...
we fail miserably on all three...we need to start by slowing it down and making better passes..

DaCoach.....I totally agree with you 1000%! We are completely overmatched. This game clearly proves it....We do not, with a couple of exceptions, have MVC talent. We need shooters & inside studs and people who can catch and hang on to the ball! MUST go to the J.C.s & our coaches need to raise their talent evaluations to a much higher level.

We should be beyond games like this yet it keeps happening. Nate continues to earn more playing time. Unless Suggs and Foster have told Wardle that they won't be playing for BU next season it just boggles my mind on Wardle's refusal to play them when it's obvious that they can contribute. Unless they improve rapidly just don't see a path where we avoid the play in game.
