  • Too Much Substituting?

Players need to understand their role on the team and accept it. Not every player is a scorer, a shooter, a defensive stopper, etc.
Our players do not seem to have established roles and they do not seem sure of their position on the team. We keep changing starting line-ups and we substitute endlessly searching for a combination that works. As a result, our players may not have confidence when they are playing which makes them tentative and fearful. This maximizes mistakes. Players are not able to settle in and play confidently since they may be unsure of their status. Players have to be on the floor long enough to get into rhythm and the flow of the game. This doesn't happen with endless substitution.

This is something jay bilas talks about sometimes. We sub so much players start playing to not screw up instead of playing to make plays. They get subbed out so often they don't play to succeed they play to not get yanked. I brought up this point to my family after the Nevada game. They were the exact opposite, playing with tons of confidence in themselves. They knew if they screwed up they'd get the chance to make up for it on the court. They obviously had more talent, but it is something a coach needs to think about.
    Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

      Substitutions

I agree totally Wizard.I said the same thing in another thread. If fans remember when we ended the year both R Suggs and A Pittman were playing great and major contributors, now we hardly see them. What is going on?

Would like to see Suggs and Foster get real minutes in the 1st half and see what they can do.....coming in with under 4 mins to play in the game is confusing to me. Both players can score, rebound along with getting steals, and hustler as never been an issue....can't work out any worse than what is happening already!
We have too many guys getting major minutes with poor production!

Quite a bit of difference with Nevada....they have only played 7 players really and they are a lot better than us. I think Wardle wants to shorten the amount of players but its hard when they aren't consistent.
I think he will get it done....the frustration has been a lot longer for us than Wardle but while I'm disappointed in some things I trust Wardle and staff to get it done

Pitts getting 19 mins a game. Turnovers have been a issue. His D should keep him in the mix.

Suggs was sick. I'm sure his legs arnt back. I like all the different line ups .

How bout this one. Bar, Foster, Van Bre , Jo Jo,Dlo.

Not nearly enough ball handling with that group

                Can't argue that.

But get it across half. Throw it down, throw it up and go get the rebound .

                Post it and crash it.

Get it to DLO on the inbound and screen for him to half.

Foster and Bar set double screens for Luuk who is set in corner coming down baseline ,screens should be at the block.

Get Luuk the ball on other block. Shoot and crash from there.
