  • Bradley Hall of Fame Class of 2016-2017

Bradley has announced the Bradley Hall of Fame class of 2016-2017, and it contains another BU basketball great. Last year, Phillip Gilbert was among 4 former Bradley athletes to be inducted into the Bradley HOF, and this year it will be Marcellus Sommerville. "Cellus" was a 3-time All-MVC player who played at Bradley in the 2003-04, 2004-05, and 2005-06 seasons, and helped lead Bradley to the Sweet 16 in March of 2006. He will be inducted at the Thursday, December 29 game against SIU. Also to be inducted Dec. 29 will be former BU volleyball player Lindsay Stalzer.

They will be guests at a Braves Club Pre-Game Party, presented by Alexander's Steakhouse and Famous Dave's, Dec. 29 at the Peoria Civic Center followed by an official induction ceremony into the Hall of Fame during halftime of the Dec. 29 men's basketball game versus SIU at Carver Arena.

A second induction ceremony will take place February 3rd and 4th, 2017.
The 1995-1996 Bradley men's basketball team, the last team to win the MVC conference, as well as former Bradley soccer goalkeeper Chris Dunsheath, and former two-time MVC women's golf individual champion Meaghan LeBlanc will also be inducted into the 2016-17 Bradley HOF. They will be guests at a Braves Club Game Day Luncheon, presented by Busey Bank, Feb. 3 at Renaissance Coliseum and officially inducted into the Hall of Fame during halftime of the Feb. 4 men's basketball game versus Drake at Carver Arena.
PEORIA, IL – Four of the all-time greats in their respective program's history and Bradley Basketball's last Missouri Valley Conference championship team make up the 2016-17 Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame Class, which will be enshrined in split ceremonies this winter.  This year's induction class includes record-setting soccer goalkeeper Chris Dunsheath, two-time MVC women's golf individual champion Meaghan LeBlanc, three-time All-MVC men's basketball forward Marcellus Sommerville, MVC volleyball career kills record-holder Lindsay Stalzer and the 1995-96 Valley champion men's basketball team.

Congratulations to Marcellus and the other great athletes!

Really hope to see AP back in town for this. I still believe it is time to retire #24.

Anthony Parker is currently a scout for the Orlando Magic and is based in Florida.
Several of the other players from that team live in the Chicago area- James Baptist, Adebayo Akinkunle, Kerry Burrell, Ben Coupet, and Mbaukwu Nwaogwugwu.
Chad Kleine (Peoria) and Aaron Zobrist (Metamora) live in the Peoria area, and last I knew, Dwayne Funches (Peoria) lived locally as well. Billy Wright lives in Macomb, IL, Gavin Schairer is now living in the Milwaukee area (Cedarburg, WI). And last I heard Deon Jackson was living in Cincinnati, Ohio, but several people-search sites now show him living in Chicago. The final active member of the team was reserve Marcus Samuels, who was from Wheeling, Illinois, but I don't know where he now lives.
Eric Roberson is listed on the Bradley roster page for the 1995-96 team as a freshman, and also listed in the PJ Star article, but because of a knee injury he sustained in high school, he redshirted and did not play that season at Bradley. Eric was from Pittsburgh, PA. I believe he is back living in the Pittsburgh area, but do not know for sure.
If anyone has any updated information about this team, let us know.

I believe that Bradley is trying to get as many of the team back for the HOF ceremony as possible.

Here is the roster from that 1995-1996 MVC Championship team, and their stats.
