My 2 Cents

My 2 Cents

I agree with the leaders that are mentioned by Bradley Fan 49. I will respectfully add my 2 cents, in that I feel The Hawk was a leader. He lead by example in the way he behaved on and off the court. The team looked up to him. The entire fan base looked up to him and I still do today and I have never met the man. I loved the modesty he portrayed and the performances he gave us.

+100. My favorite BU player of all time. Great guy on and off the court.

DeSmet loses to Vianney, Stipanovich with 17
Last Thursday's game was a tough 53-49 loss, but the ending was a bit controversial...
with DeSmet down 51-49, and only a few seconds left, Ryan Stipanovich attempted a game-winning 3-pointer and was fouled hard..
some said it should have been an intentional foul, but the refs did NOT award a shooting foul - thus giving Ryan a 1-1.
He missed the front end and DeSmet was forced to foul, and the game ended with 2 FTs for Vianney..

Both DeSmet & Lee's Summit West play on Tuesday nite

Clips from the game story:

"De Smet (12-16) led 14-13 at halftime.

..De Smet senior forward Ryan Stipanovich was the only player on the court
who had any offensive rhythm. He scored 12 points in the first half. He
finished with a game-high 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a shot.
???I think we were really active on defense,??? Stipanovich said. ???They're good in
transition and we tried to stop that and get back.???

..De Smet had six players score, but only Stipanovich managed more than
one field goal.

???We got some good looks. We can shoot the ball,??? De Smet coach Blake
Ahearn said. ???Everything tonight is exactly what you want as a coach. If you
make them, great. If you don't, you can rest your head easy at night and
live with it.???

Ahearn ended his first season on the bench at De Smet as Stipanovich
completed his career. A De Smet basketball legacy, Stipanovich has a famous
last name that carries certain expectations and weight. The Spartans didn't
win Thursday night but Stipanovich went out in a blaze of glory.

???We didn't want it to end this way, but we had a great season,??? Stipanovich
said. ???I love wearing De Smet on my jersey.???

Added Ahearn with a laugh, "I'll take this Stipo over any of the others."

and back on Feb. 22...
Lee's Summit West beats Lee's Summit 70-52, it appears that Elijah Childs did not play -

the explanation was:
"Somebody had to fill that 6-foot-8 hole in the middle left when Childs was unavailable
...Childs was held out of Tuesday’s game as a precaution after taking a blow to the head late in last Friday’s game at Park Hill\

Miller said Childs will be good to go next week"
