Duncan Reid passes

Legendary Rock Island coach Duncan Reid lost his battle with Cancer yesterday. He will always be remembered for how prepared his teams always were and his outstanding ability to get the most out of every kid who played for him. I was very fortunate to work many of his games from 1980 until I retired. Condolences to Sandy and the kids. RIP Duncan.

Yes, I saw that. He has been out of coaching a while now (he retired in 2001) and a lot of people may not know who he was. He was a legendary coach and mentor to many kids and he was one of the most respected men in Illinois basketball. He started his coaching career at Pekin HS, was highly successful at Lincoln HS, and after stints at University of Kansas and at the juco level, he returned to high school coaching at Rock Island HS for many years.
