Jerome Merritt and Lou Griffith to redshirt

Coach Wardle announced that Jerome Merritt and Lou Griffith will redshirt this season, as many expected.

Jerome is incredibly talented physically but has not been playing basketball nearly as long as most of the others, so he'd be well down in the playing rotation this year and get very little playing time if everyone else stayed healthy
(we remember the Jake Eastman situation where injuries "un-redshirted" Jake)

I look forward to his development and I think in 3-4 years he could be one of the real surprises in the MVC - especially since Coach Wardle has a great track record of developing players!

I think this bodes well for Lou also. That he is being looked at as more than a practice player... dude is a competitor!

I hear a lot of good about Lou both in the way he plays and adds a tough competition atmosphere in practice
but also that he's a great kid that everyone on the team likes - and his presence is one of those "chemistry" things that makes us a better team.
