Anyone else have a real, distant but interesting memory of the first World Series they can recall?
I know I am old, but I do have a very vague memory of the TV on when Don Larson threw his perfect game, but I definitely remember the White Sox on TV playing in the 1959 World Series.
I believe the 1959 Series ushered in the importance of the closer as Dodgers reliever Larry Sherry finished the 6-game series with 2 wins and 2 saves and was the Series MVP.
One other memory was that for game 7 of the 1960 World Series, our teacher brought a TV and allowed the entire class to watch all afternoon, and of course that game may well have been the most exciting game ever - a walk-off, game winning/Series winning home run in the bottom of the 9th!
Here's another oddity about that game...
It was a 10-9 slugfest with 7 pitching changes and yet took only 2 hrs & 36 minutes to complete.
