An audio file - 10 min..
he starts by discussing the ISU/Iowa "closed scrimmage" - but doesn't get into a lot of details - and mentions he was shorthanded and describes the scrimmage as "encouraging".
Then the interviewer asks Coach Muller to comment on the arrest situation...and Muller says he doesn't want to talk much about it.
He says "it wouldn't be appropriate or fair to the players involved to discuss it", "it's embarrassing", "some of the things that have been said are inaccurate", "they are still getting the facts", "he hasn't determined what discipline yet - that will depend on the facts".....BOTH Dan & the interviewer even take a swipes at what's being said in print & on "social media" and "bulletin boards"..
that they do too much speculating.
He brags extensively that he believes he does a good job holding all his players to a HIGH LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY. "We have high standards"...(but does not explain how guys with DUI's never get docked a minute of playing time and then get 2nd DUI's - or why he recruits and plays guys who were UNDER their conviction/sentence/probation for violent felonies while he recruited, signed, and played them!)
...then he goes on to say that this is about all he will say about the situation and he won't even discuss the well known, publicly available information.
BUT SERIOUSLY -- way more than half of all the legal stuff there has NEVER been discussed...
and as for the "speculation" - sorry Dan, everything I have seen mentioned is exactly what's documented in the arrest database!!!
Coach Muller has had at least four DUI's among his players since last season plus kids with arrests for serious assaults, felony assaults, robberies, etc....
Geez- Dan, stop acting like this is a rare & isolated thing that gets way TOO MUCH coverage when you've hidden most of the arrests, never commented on many of them and totally ignored discipline on the serious crimes!
