SIU beat Missouri-St. Louis but it was very close 72-67
(UMSL led til the final 2 min!)
    Lloyd 13, Wiley & O'Brien 10

Indiana St. clobbered Rose Hulman 95-36
    Van Scyoc 18, Scott 13, Franklin 12

Illini with 32 pt lead over Lewis in final 5 min
    edit - final 95-51

Creighton beat Mizzou - but then published all the details & stats
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team opened its 2016-17 season on Sunday afternoon with a scrimmage against Missouri that was closed to the media and public. Recent legislation now allows postgame publicity of the result, which saw the teams tie 41-41 in the first 20 minutes before Creighton outscored the Tigers 45-31 in the final 20 minutes.

The ugliest game was the Maryland WBB 129-pt blowout win
    Maryland 146 - Bluefield 17
Halftime score was 74-17 - then Bluefield did not score in the 2nd half and was out scored 72-0
Bluefield was 6-39, Maryland 57-89 - Bluefield had 51 turnovers!! FT's were 32-0 in favor of Maryland, Points in the Paint 82-2
Maryland won the rebounding battle 55-13
..but also - even with a 90 point lead (107-17) in the final quarter(WBB plays four 10-min quarters), Maryland was launching 3-pointer after 3-pointer - it seems evenident that they were simply trying to build numbers and shoot for some records.
They launched almost half their 3-point attempts in the final quarter - 3 times in the first 6-8 seconds of a possession and 10 times in the first 20 seconds of a possession.

another report from a closed scrimmage

      Drake 74 - WIU 59
Reed Timmer had 24, Billy Wampler 20

Some info on the Saint Louis/Evansville closed scrimmage - SLU fouled constantly & the Aces reportedly shot 39 FT's but the game was fairly even

Evansville plays another closed scrimmage today vs. Green Bay

SLU played DIII Greenville last night and won by 124-85
(Greenville is coached by former Bradley assistant George Barber)
Greenville had 29 turnovers but Saint Louis had 27
There were 96 missed shots from the floor and a lot of rebounds to grab...77 total FT attempts, and SLU's Reggie Agbeko had 18 rebs
      Greenville shot 56 3-pt attempts (14-56)

In the SIU-UMSL game, SIU almost lost this game!
...after taking out their starters - they put them all back in down the stretch and had their starters playing (IN AN EXHIBITION!!) right to the end of the game in order to win.

There's a video of the post-game comments by a couple players & Barry Hinson and they look completely stunned & clueless - and had no answers as to why they played so poorly - that they had to go all out and get a few calls down the stretch and barely won this game -
With a ONE-POSSESSION lead, UMSL missed a shot in the final 10 seconds-

BTW- Missouri-St. Louis has two players who were Ford recruiting targets..
          Max Cook - was 1-4, 4 pts
          Alex Majewski was 0-0, scoreless

SIU's Thik Bol, picked by some as the MVC Freshman of the Year- started, went 1-4, 2 pts and 5 rebounds
but Lloyd, Wiley and O'Brien had good games

UNLV has played two exhibitions - a couple former BU recruits played

UNLV 96-80 over Dakota Wesleyan - Zion Morgan 4 pts, 2 reb, Ben Coupet DNP
UNLV 92-66 over New Mexico Highlands - Ben Coupet 11 pts/3 rebs, Zion Morgan scoreless

Wichita currently in a battle with Augusta (formerly Augusta State)
with about 6 minutes to go Shockers up 64-57

Gregg Marshall definitely not happy, angry, glaring at his own players, in their faces and furious with some of the moves that have allowed Augusta to stay close.

(some student hit a half court shot at halftime for a $1000 prize)

now about 5 min to go
Wichita hanging on to a narrow 64-59 lead and not looking good.

Who'da think Wichita would have to go the whole way with their starters ?

Shockers are gonna pull this one out, but it wasn't easy
Augusta took them right down to the wire.

                    Final 73-67
Shaq Morris 24, Shamet 12, McDuffie 2 pts,

That kid singlehandedly brought them back from a 20 point deficit. Made probably 6 shots in a row, at least 3 were guarded falling out of bounds threes where he ended up on the ground. Completely insane to watch.

Shockers were saved by some really powerful play inside by Morris...
they seem to only have 3 or 4 guys who can score and Augusta had nobody inside to contend with Morris

                        Drake underway hosting Concordia-St. Paul
Drake 16 - Concordia 6 - 8 minutes into the game, Reed Timmer has 10

Missouri State plays at 7pm vs Missouri Baptist

                          another close game
Drake 44 - Concordia 45 with about 15 min to go

edit- Drake holds on to win 81-75
Wampler 22, Timmer 20 four Drake players logging 29-34 minutes
Foul totals pretty lopsided (30-16) & Free Throws (33-13) in favor of Drake

Missouri State up 26-13 in the first 10 min
Dequon Miller 3-3 from beyond the arc, Jarred Dixon 5 pts, Alize Johnson 6

                          update at halftime

Missouri State wins 93-72, they stretched a 12pt lead to 20+ most of 2nd half
Alize Johnson ended with 26 pt

Missouri Baptist does have a pretty short lineup - nobody over 6-7

btw- Freddie McSwain got some playing time for Indiana vs. Bellarmine
Indiana won 73-49 and the game was a 20-25 pt blowout for almost all the 2nd half..
Freddie got 8 minutes scored 1 pt but grabbed 8 rebs

Chris Kendrix, Jordan Martin and also apparently Tyler McCullough of Missouri State were suspended for the exhibition last night -
head coach Paul Lusk deferred all questions 'til after the game then said they were suspended for "violations of team rules"..
...likely we will never know - they will probably all be back before any game that actually counts **
