  • Bradley's open practice

Yesterday's summer workout was open to the media and Dave Reynolds wrote his observations

    -good team chemistry
    -more competitive
    -deeper, especially at point guard
    -newcomers are hard workers
-"We'll defintiely play more uptempo this year"

    Thanks For Posting

    Tornado,

Thanks for posting the article by Dave Reynolds. I depend on this forum for news on the team and I have no way of knowing an article like this has been written, other than the forum. I enjoy reading Dave's articles about Bradley Mens BB.

    Thanks again.

he notes that none of the other summer workouts or practices have yet been open to media or anyone -
so at last we finally have another source for a report on how things are going

One of the first things I heard Brian Wardle say when he came to Peoria in spring 2015, was how impressed he was with the fan base--
He was aware of the fans on the message boards & they were engaged & passionate all summer long/in the off-season and they even had big time interest in who Bradley was recruiting!

if Bradley wants to foster & develop more passionate fans like this - they NEED to have more of this coverage in the summer & get the fans engaged, too with summer events & open practices.

I am with you pfcmsh. The only regular information I get is from this message board, so it is nice to finally see something from the full time writers about the team.

But I was disappointed with Dave's article. Considering its the first article he's written about the team in months, it was short and didn't report much that wasn't already known. He only mentioned 5 of the 15 players on the roster. There's seven new freshmen on the team, and if Dave had access to the team and coaches, why did he only mention 2 of them briefly? It would be nice to hear a little about how Alex Foster is doing, or the other freshmen like Koch Bar, or Nate Kennell, or where Jerome Merritt fits in, etc. If anyone else hears anything about the team, keep reporting for us.

he not only had access and talked with them he had a staff photographer there and took a few pictures...
I also wonder why we have't had more coverage - maybe the team should give media credentials to all the BradleyFans staff - that would git-r-dun

First I want to thank Dave for this article.

Since this is in the newspaper he may have been limited by available space. I don't know but maybe the additional things t mentioned will be the basis for future articles. At least I hope so.

                OK- here's more...
Friday ended Summer Session II and Fall classes do not begin until August 24...so, many of the players will have some time off, but some will remain on campus

Anyway, I had a chance to "speak" to someone who recently watched one of the summer workouts/practices...
The main thing noted was improved athleticism, even the guys who are returning have developed, bigger, more muscular, quicker off the floor - especially Suggs, Barker, Thomas...
Indeed as mentioned elsewhere the newcomers who look most like they can contribute right away are the two PG's Brown, Jr. & Hodgson and McGlaston..

I think he will help defensively but we will have to wait to see how he develops offensively & in transition
