Marcel was quite a talent. I remember him playing here as a freshman. He would shoot the ball from anywhere and was a pretty darn good shooter. There was no 3 point field goal at the time and he would often make them from the NBA 3 point distance. It seemed liked several times he would cross half court at the fieldhouse and let it fly. Often when he made a basket, he would jump up and down in celebration, only to have the other team inbound the pass and his man race past him for an easy layup at the other end. This would infuriate Coach Stowell, who would then, take him out of the game, chew him out, pat him on the butt and then send him back into the game. Marcel could speak very little English when he arrived on campus. The few words of English he spoke, other than his native Portuguese, can't be printed on this bulletin board. It is too bad he didn't stay here for all four years.
