If the Big XII does not accept Houston, they will lose what little of the Houston market they have. When Texas A&M, a little over an hour northwest of Houston, bolted the Big XII for the SEC, it was a significant blow to their share of the Houston market. If Houston was to join a Big 5 conference, other than the Big XII, the Big XII would lose the 5th largest market in the country. I would be surprised if they let that happen. The television package the Big XII currently has with Fox, is no where near as lucrative as the Big Ten Network or the SEC Network. As everybody knows, the University of Texas has their own television network.
