    Summer & pre-season events

t.....Further to our discussion regarding Summer & Pre-season events, here are a couple of suggestions which I think fans will really appreciate and which will serve to enlarge our fan (and contributor) base and create even more fan enthusiasm:
    1) OPEN PRACTICES: Starting this summer, we need to have certain dates where fans are welcome to watch team workouts and practices. I do not believe these need to have any kind of formal program or structure beyond the normal practice routine. These could be in the main RC court or the BU team court. No tickets or anything other than allowing fans to come in and watch several times this summer and into the season.
2)FAN BREAKFASTS & LUNCHES: These are excellent events and attendance could be limited to Braves Club members down thru the Silver category. Certain team members could be invited to create more fan/player contact.
    3) BUS TRIPS FOR CERTAIN ROAD GAMES: again, the old bus trip program which Ken Goldin ran should be reinstated.
    4) BRAVES CLUB HOSPITALITY ROOM IN CARVER: The old Braves Club room at Carver before games and at halftime was very well-attended and brought fans together at the games in a great social and Bradley Basketball atmosphere. The current concession stand halftime line for free popcorn is tacky and doesn't really do much for fans who donate to the program. I realize the Braves Scholarship Society has a vey nice half-time room with food, Etc., but what about those Braves Club people who donate up to $1000 each year? I realize that location is a problem but, somehow, there has to be a way to establish a room for Braves Club donors at least thru the Silver category. This should also attract and upgrade lower level Braves Club contributors.

I also would still ove to see something like this happen ...

      and consider for next year....
A Throwback game - maybe try to entice Cincy or Louisville (sure, I know...) --
...or maybe a REVENGE GAME against CCNY!!!! (you gotta be old to understand this one- LINK) but I know they'd come!!
...but our players wear special old-looking throwback jerseys...
and then auction them off for the Athletics budget or charity...

Don't forget - next Monday on July 4th, the basketball team will be in the
West Peoria 4th of July Parade - starts at 10am, great for kids...they throw lots of candy & trinkets to the kids
        here's more info

The parade route - if you get close to the intersection of Sterling & Rohmann then the parade passes that point twice so you get to see the parade a little bit more thoroughly
        (near Haddad's grocery store)
https://www.facebook.com/westpeoria4th/?fref=photo (this is the 2015 parade route, but it will be the same this year- the starting point is the star at Rohmann & Sterling)

          Summer MVC teleconference...

Brian Wardle comments on what he's seen so far in the players this summer...
-a little better leadership - comes with experience, but we're still young & improving
          -outside shooting overall is improved
-we are going to play a little more uptempo since we have the players to do so

Dan Muller talks a little about Deontae Hawkins' injury...injuring his foot in some summer workout when he was home in Dayton.
Fractured 5th metatarsal - same kind of injury Andrew Warren had that kept him out the better part of a year and a half. Hawkins has already had surgery - pinning the 5th metatarsal - and will miss the whole summer except upper body conditioning
..his non-conference schedule should be out soon, but won't be as tough as last year.
** btw- Wichita's Landry Shamet missed the entire season with a fractured 5th metatarsal - LINK
Many players have missed entire years - LINK

Paul Lusk - the highly touted incoming freshman Greg Williams has had a series of health issues the past year or more, and now has had "a couple more setbacks" and needed hernia surgery. He is not yet on campus and Lusk talks like he might not be on campus and ready to go until fall.

Luuk, Koch Bar, Jayden, Callum, Peter Hanley, Chris Reynolds, and several other members of the Athletic Dept. were in the parade

Here's a suggestion, arrange to bring back a group of Bradley alumni and a group of ISU alumni every summer and have a game. Or maybe a 2 out of 3, and make it a charity event for Peoria & Bloomington youth basketball. Doubt any NCAA rules could possibly be broken since none of the players will have any eligibility. Would love to see Osiris Eldridge again going against JC, Ruffin & Warren.
                    We miss you Coach Buescher

I'd pay for that, and maybe bring back Versace & Donewald to coach the teams - hey it's worth a try...
