  • What kind of recruit would you like to see with the final scholarship?

As a fan, what kind of recruit would you like to see with the final available scholarship? Juco, prep, or high schooler? Guard, wing, or big man? Scorer, athletic wing, physical presence, ball handler, point guard, or what?

Personally, I feel the coaches have addressed the need for additional height (Koch Bar), and ball handling (Brown & Hodgson). But if Bradley is going to make a move upward in the Valley next year, they need more scoring. Bradley's 56.0 ppg last season ranked 351st out of 351 Division I teams. Dead last.
http://www.cbssports.com/collegebask.../regularseason (scroll down, click "ALL", and check the bottom of the list).

Overall FG percentage was 38.0% (349th out of 351), and shooting percentages from 3-point were equally poor (28.0%- 348th out of 351). Free throw percentage was 66.1% (307th out of 351).
Other season stats: Assists to turnovers was 0.53 (9.1/17.2) and ranked 348th, assists (9.1/game) ranked 348th, and turnovers (17.2) ranked 351st in Division I.

I like the infusion of more athletic players, and the returning players should be a bit improved. And I think Nate Kennell can help offensively down the road, but realistically, I do not see the team improving very much offensively unless they can add one more reliable perimeter threat who can step in right away and contribute, similar to what Daequon Miller did for Missouri State, or Devonte Brown for Indiana State.
So I would like to see a juco or 5th-year transfer shooting guard with the final scholarship.

Well we can always use a shooter especially from a 3-4 postion....I know we did not shoot well last year but I think the sophs will be better in all areas this coming year. They shot better as the season wore on it seemed...especially DLO. Having quality depth will help a lot and hopefully we get that at PG next year.....I don't make win predictions really and wouldn't even try until we get closer to the first game.....but I think we'll be quite a bit better..

I would want a grad transfer that can start & help right away - one who would average 14 ppg and hit 44% from the arc.

I would like to see a 6-5 to 6-7 junior college shooting forward, that is athletic and a good shooter from 12 to 15 feet.

I believe that it may be more difficult to get the quality of recruit we all want, than what we want to think. Until we start to win and get some regional or national attention, it is going to be harder to recruit than what we want to believe. We have wonderful facilities both for practice and games. We have a young and energetic coaching staff as well. The recruiting landscape has changed dramatically over the years. Most players we're recruiting have little, if any knowledge, of Bradley and certainly those that do, don't think of it as most of us do. All recruits are looking for playing minutes. Very seldom is a coach going to recruit a player and tell them "you're not going to get many playing minutes". They are also looking for an opportunity to play in as many post season tournaments (NCAA) as possible. Many recruits are also looking for the total college experience. Experiences such as walking to bars nearby campus. Being able to walk safely in the areas surrounding the campus. Going to football games in the fall with your girlfriend.

There are some recruits that want to be part of building a successful programs. We had a bunch of those in our freshman class. Now the challenge is getting players that can be cornerstones of the program.

            What Kind of Recruit.....

I would like to see a 6'-8"/230# super shooter - 50% FG & 45% 3 pt. either a JC or Freshman( I can dream can't I ?)......We must have shooters to move up in the MVC.

I'd like to see the scholarship banked. I hope improved point guard play leads to more offense. But there is no denying the need for a shooter if you are going to sign someone.

..well, maybe Jojo is the answer! Not exactly a grad-transfer but eligible right away with 3 years of development in college under his belt.
He has a very early birth date for his class (Sept. 30) so he'll be 22 this fall, hopefully in line with what we need - a little more experience and not so much re-building.
I think we have found the photo from the first time Jojo dunked - LINK

And he definitely adds to the team's overall athleticism, which was one of the important things I felt needed to be addressed with this year's recruiting.

Coach Wardle seems to think so, too. He said this:

"JoJo brings great experience to our program," said Bradley head coach Brian Wardle. "He has produced and won at a high level of college basketball. He is a long, athletic playmaker that can score the basketball and effect the game in a lot of ways. He can give us an immediate impact in transitioning to the way my teams have played in the past and the way we want to play here at Bradley, aggressive defensively and attacking offensively."

"We had a very productive recruiting period and feel really good about the student-athletes we have coming in this summer," said Wardle. "Our approach to recruiting has always been to evaluate with our eyes and not our ears. We filter out a lot of the outside noise and emotion and dial in on who is the best fit for our long-term success.

"We target players who possess the Bradley DNA: high character, degree driven, tough, competitive, winners, high motor, work ethic, coachable and an upside to develop," Wardle added. "The players we have coming in for next season fit this mold. We have done a lot of homework on their character and have watched them play live and watched film on them and believe we are bringing in the right pieces for our puzzle. The future is bright and we are ready to get to work."

Hopefully BW will walk the talk!

Having read the above, though, I love this guy as MBB HC at BU!

Happy Days will be here again with BU MBB! Hopefully the MVC will remain a top 8 MBB Conference in the future.
