Re- the ratings...
hard to compare since the Finals were only on cable...
There were lots of reports that the ratings and the viewers were low for the Women's NCAA Tourney & Final Four..
they were the 3rd LOWEST rated Finals in the past 20 years but were up some from last year
"The NCAA Women’s Final Four National Final ... delivered a 1.7 overnight rating on ESPN"
"...Nobody is Watching.."
"2016 NCAA Women's Championship Drew Fewer Viewers"
but NCAA focused only on the increase from last season and touts this year as a great success:
(they also tout a total of 129,000 watched on TV - but that number equals about what watches a single Michigan football game in person)
But how impressive is 129,000 viewers?
The Men's Championship game drew 12-14 million viewers and that was down from the 29 million who watched last year. Over 100 million watch the Superbowl
Other cable shows that week - AMC's Walking Dead drew 18 million viewers, American Idol - 13 million, but even the lowest rated cable news show still drew over 200,000. so I guess that gives you an idea.
This NCAA story sounds like they were thoroughly happy but to me the numbers look horrible.
