Bradley hires new women's head basketball coach

Bradley has made their decision and hired a new women's basketball coach, though it has not been officially announced yet.

The new coach is Andrea Gorski, who is the Associate Head Coach at Southern Illinois University. She has been the top assistant under Cindy Stein for the last 3 years at SIU. Cindy Stein had success for many years at Missouri and in her short stint at ICC, before being hired at SIU in 2013. In their 3 years at SIU they have turned the program around from a bottom dweller into one of the top teams in the MVC.

Andrea Gorski is a 1992 Bradley grad who was a star player for the Bradley women. Her name then was Andrea McAllister. She is originally from Dearborn Heights, Michigan. She was the team's leading scorer in 1991-92

She was also the winner of the Watonga Award in 1992-

She was a graduate assistant coach for BU for a short time after she finished up her playing career, then went on to coach for many years at the high school level in Michigan, then at the college level (Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan), as well as AAU before joining Cindy Stein's staff at SIU.
She is a 1996 inductee into the Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame.

Christena was previously an assistant coach at Winthrop for the last 5 years. She is the younger sister of former NBA player Richard (Rip) Hamilton.

three assistant coaches are leaving (two assistants in coaching positions and their DBO) a very successful team that won the Conference Championship and made the NCAA in 2014 then bottomed out at 4-26 this past season

He is a 1988 graduate of Northern Iowa University. UNI joined the MVC in 1991.

ps- watch for this and the links to get poached right away then posted on a cut-and-paste message board only to have some pseudo-expert claim he knows all about Alona in Wisconsin then dis on her. But the fact is she is perhaps the highest rated recruit at Bradley basketball in anyone's memory.

There's not as much generally available on women's recruiting as we are used to on the men's side..

but Alana Johnson was said to be a very important part of "Wisconsin’s best-ever recruiting class."
(ranked #17 in all of DI)

She is the 2nd highest rated Wisconsin women's recruit in 2016

seems like an upgrade...
..our shooting has been horrible the last couple seasons - our best 3-pt shooters have been in the 20's as far as accuracy, and our team shooting percentage the past couple years has been miserable (overall - 27% this past year and the worst in MVC play in 2014-15 at just 22% and the worst in MVC play in 2015-16 at 23%). So I know she hasn't hit a shot yet but at least she comes with that ability - LINK.
