Great idea. With a year of redshorting, I believe he could help the team in practices, and some games.

he can handle the ball at this level - prob won't score much but can help if we have depth problems at PG

I would love to see him accept this. He is good, and he's all heart. He would make a positive impact on the team in whatever role he's asked to play.
        Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

          Preferred walk-on?

What is the difference between being a redshirted walk-on and redshirted preferred walk-on?

A preferred walk-on is a player who has been in touch with the coach and is guaranteed a roster spot. Other walk-ons have to try out in the fall for a spot on the roster.

Just my 2 cents...since nobody really knows what goes on or what is said during the recruiting process...
I don't think the NCAA sees "preferred" walk-ons any differently than other walk-ons, I think it's term used by coaches....
but it definitely means something to the kids - many of whom could go the DII route..

If Griffith were NOT guaranteed a roster spot then once he enrolled - if he got cut, he 'd have to transfer and lose the whole year of eligibility.
This way, he knows he's on the team - as for how much playing time, likely that's been discussed since it appears they already discussed redshirting - and it means Lou at least has some hopes of playing some..
If Lou is a good student he also might still get substantial scholarship support academically.
The NCAA no longer allows any student athlete to get help from Go-Fund-Me sites.

I am hearing that Lou Griffith may be getting closer to a decision regarding coming to Bradley and joining the team as a preferred walk-on.

Lou Griffith just received a preferred walk on offer from a second D1. New Wright State head coach Scott Nagy has offered Griffith a preferred walkon. This might delay his impending decision.

Lou Griffith will be making a visit to St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York. At one time he was reportedly deciding between a full scholarship to St. Thomas Aquinas or a preferred walk-on opportunity at Bradley. He has since reportedly received a preferred walk-on offer from Wright State, too.
