Freddie McSwain Visiting Bradley

If anyone is interested- Freddie McSwain now has set up an announcement for 5:30PM on April 24 (right after he completes his visit to Indiana).
FWIW- I have been inside the Indiana Assembly Hall, and Inside their basketball training and practice facilities, and seen the trophy cases, etc. Suffice to say, there is not a program anywhere that can compete with the impressiveness of their displays and facilities. If they truly want Freddie, they will get him. If they ask him to wait on them, then it might be Kansas State.

One more interesting chess-like move- Now Kansas State announces that one of their players is leaving and transferring to a juco.
This opens 1 scholarship that they hope can help sway Freddie McSwain to choose Kansas State.

Freddie McSwain chooses
Indiana
he kinda did a teaser where he picked up the Kansas State hat first..but then put on the Indiana hat..
not a good way to make friends in Kansas...
Now the Hoosier fans are really going bananas tweeting to Freddie...more violations that I am sure NCAA will never bother with..
btw- I can still remember the exact same giddiness when Indiana landed FIVE STAR, Top 20 nationally Hanner Perea..
but go back & check what was said about his here on BradleyFans...
the guy was tremendously athletic but couldn't shoot and wasn't a true post player either...so just how was he going to help?
In the 3 years he played at Indiana - he seemed lost most of the time, took bad shots, averaged an amazingly bad 2 rpg for a 6-9 guy who plays right next to the hoop, and was recruited over each year by better low post guys... and now he's gone - and Freddie is taking his scholarship..
I hope Freddie has done his homework!

It seemed like a foregone conclusion once Tom Crean decided he really wanted Freddie that he would end up picking Indiana. They usually get who they want, unless they are competing with a Top 20 program.

There may be some issues brewing with Freddie McSwain...
he has not yet completed sufficient courses for his juco Associates Degree, thus he is still in Chanute, KS at Neosho County Community College taking further classes and hoping to complete them successfully.
The earliest he'd be able to get on campus at Indiana would be August - but many of the IU Hoosier fans are getting very worried...
Just maybe this could be a real problem...
Here are a few comments from their message boards-
"Barely in time to sign up for classes. ..I may have overrated him for this year."
"Ideally, the entire team would be together by now."
" I feel TC Will keep him on bench ..."
"Why does he get playing time if others are better? .."
"I don't see him being better than Morgan, OG, Collin, DeRon and that who he will be fighting for playing time..."
"I'm disappointed that McSwain will miss these summer workouts and development time. "
"If EVER there was a perfect candidate to redshirt FMac would be the guy."
"I am in agreement with you. Red Shirt the kid and let him develop. FM is a late arrival, and I just do not see him getting more than 5-7 minutes."
"i really do not see more than 5-7 minutes per game this year for FM. He is arriving on campus aug 17, meaning he has missed the whole summer of conditioning, weights, and playing hoops with his teammates. That means he is well behind on this year's "hoops curve". I think that he can be a solid player for IU, and I hope that CTC elects to redshirt him. He will help us a lot more in 2019 than he will in 2017."
"Redshirting McSwain is probably a good idea and one I had not thought of. He is a late starter in basketball "
"..heard that Davis and McSwain will have a hard time getting qualified."

finally finishing up summer classes - Freddie McSwain arrived this morning on IU's campus
but the talk on their boards is that it isn't certain his grades will qualify and that missing all summer he'd be way behind and ought to redshirt!
Gotta think Freddie wasn't figuring on redshirting.

Former Bradley top recruiting target Freddie McSwain off to a tough start at Indiana.
First, he didn't get to campus until just as classes started, then he injured his knee and required surgery, and with practice starting he's at least a few weeks away.
IU is also 2-over in commitments for 2017 also..

uh oh....gotta wonder if poor Freddie McSwain is close to the axe at Indiana...
he gets sent into the game and takes off his warmup but looks a little foolish as he does not have his jersey on...
wasn't prepared, Crean was not happy
along same vein, Kavell Bigby-Williams barely played last night in blowout of USC - went 0-4, scoreless, 2 rebs
