So Wichita was one of the Last 4 In At-Large teams.
WSU was the 2nd to last at-large bid. Which means that if SMU and Lousville would have been eligible, there would have been NO at large bids given to mid-majors .... think about that for a second.

Here is a CBS podcast where Gary Parrish, Matt Norlander, and Sam Vecenie talk about the NCAA bracket, and how the mid-majors got screwed (starting about 17:00). They also discuss a bunch of other things the NCAA selection committee got wrong.

In this interview, the selection committee chairman talks about Tulsa being the last team in, and why they got a bid over possibly more deserving teams.-
Where did the selection committee go wrong with this year's NCAA tournament bracket? Let Joe Lunardi count the many, many ways.

Note how he puts extreme emphasis on "Top 50 wins", but apparently bad losses are not so important. But when he is asked about other teams that had good "top 50 wins" he falls back onto other excuses. Tulsa lost 2 of their last 3 games to a team with a 140 RPI, but still got a bid.

And of course, the Power 5 conference teams have this huge advantage- they get all the teams in their conference to visit them on their home court because of their conference schedule. No mid-major gets the chance to play those teams on their home court where they might have a better chance to beat them. So now the NCAA seems to put extreme emphasis on "Top 50 wins" while ignoring the losses, because that allows them to stack the tournament with Power 5 conference teams, and ignore mid-majors.

You can blame the NCAA if you got pegged as the 69th best team for the tourney instead of the 68th or even lay blame on the NIT people if you got left out of the additional 32 teams there ...but seriously...

-Evansville really had only one target to heap their blame...
their AD & head coach who decided that in a year when they were returning All-Conference talent and had a strong group of experienced seniors and were gonna be picked at the top of the MVC--
they still went ahead and scheduled this terrible bunch of opponents...
SEMO, Mississippi Valley State, Alabama State, Norfolk State, Alabama A&M, etc..
2015-2016 Men's College Basketball Team Home Page: team information including RPI, strength of schedule, schedule and results, streaks and statistics.

-Monmouth and other midmajors can blame Gregg Marshall & Wichita - because the Shockers took the final open spot for a mid-major and it was their doofus move to not guard Washpun when everyone on earth knew he was going to be taking that final shot.

-ISU can blame their head coach for not getting in the NIT - for coming completely unprepared for their tourney game vs. Indiana State and getting outcoached by a mile.

-and currently the Wichita fans are so relieved that they did get in - that they have yet to get bummed about having to play the extra game only to face a team - Vandy - who finished 3rd in the SEC & whose non-conference losses include ONLY Kansas, Baylor, Dayton and Purdue - all Top 20 teams!
            - then they face Arizona right off the bat.
So if they wanna blame anyone - then blame that same guy who didn't bother to guard Washpun.

            -

all left out so Syracuse (RPI 72) - who are under major NCAA sanctions this season and shouldn't even have been eligible!!! and Tulsa ( RPI 5 - can get included..
OK - now this is gonna get strange...
some chatter this morning kinda says that the Chairman of the NCAA Selection Committee (Joe Castiglione) who is the Oklahoma AD - is the long time buddy and the guy who first hired the Tulsa AD Derrick Gregg.. as I said - helps to have friends in the right places...

Just when you think you have seen the silliest of ironies....

The Kentucky AD has joined John Calipari & they say they got reamed by the NCAA Selection Committee
and that the selection process needs to be MORE TRANSPARENT!

Indiana's Tom Crean has been complaining all week about their seeding...

Syracuse people are complaining because everyone's complaining about they got in!!!

watching UNCW vs. Duke and pretty even game til the refs took over...
even the broadcasters repeatedly talking about the ridiculous calls..
                  .....just said
                  "it's a whistle-fest"

but it's NOT a whistle fest both ways... sadly UNCW's starting center has four...
                  the current foul count..
                  UNCW 20 - Duke 9
                  Free throws... Duke 21 - UNCW 8

Wichita State beat Arizona Thursday night to advance to the round of 32 match-up against Miami on Saturday afternoon.
Just to prove how wrong the NCAA selection committee got their seedings, Wichita State is an #11 seed vs. #3 seeded Miami. Yet the Las Vegas oddsmakers unanimously have Wichita State as the favorite in that game.
WSU is currently a 2?? point favorite-

I don't recall ever seeing an #11 seed favored over a #3 seed, or any team seeded as high as #3 listed as an underdog against any other team on the first weekend.

I thought that Wichita State dominated early with terrific defense and Arizona couldnt handle them. Wichita State is well coached and has a great team. They are tough. Baker toughed it out with a bad knee that caused a limp toward the end of the game. Glad to see them beat an over rated team. Wichita State will represent the MVC well. I hope they win straight through to the championship!!!

LOL - the Pac-12 was horribly overrated...

Cal, Oregon State, Arizona and Colorado ...all lost badly to lower seeded teams
