That 6.7 million will be divided among all MVC schools. The amount of revenue paid by the NCAA for the men's basketball tournament, pales in comparison to the amount of money the NCAA pays for participation in BCS bowl games. Perhaps this is why Wichita is exploring bringing football back. Following is the amount of money per conference, that was awarded by the NCAA for bowl participation during the 2014-15 season. All amounts are in the millions and divided among conference members.
    ACC: 83.5 M
    Big 12: 58 M
    Big 10: 60 M
    Pac 12: 60 M
    SEC: 87 M
    American Athletic: 12 M
    Conference USA: 12 M
    MAC: 12 M
    Mountain West: 16 M
    Sun Belt: 12 M

odd how the schools who are closest to bankruptcy are all BCS schools...and other football schools, so obviously something just doesn't add up

There are certainly schools that are in financial trouble, just as there are businesses that have financial problems. That doesn't change the fact, the NCAA pays a lot more money for football than basketball. The NCAA is nothing but a hypocritical cash cow. Most of the schools in the BCS are state schools. Illinois State and SIU, as every other Missouri Football Conference school is not in the BCS.

Most BCS schools that are losing money is not just because of football. Most of it has to do with overspending in all areas, including capital development and/or poor administrative decisions, that has nothing to do with football.

As I recall, just a short time ago, our own BU was having financial problems, due to declining enrollment and other issues that were not related to football, but clearly poor decisions.

ESPN's Joe Lunardi puts out his first BRACKETOLOGY for the 2017-18 season...

BUT -- ooops....he did not include a single team from the MVC!!!
Once he was tipped off to his blunder, he quickly corrected his Bracketology an inserted Loyola as the MVC auto-bid as a #15 seed

but you can see from the reader comments that he left the MVC out altogether!!

You don't have any teams from the Missouri Valley in now that Wichita's gone.

...He is still including WSU as Missouri Valley which is wrong

One of the bad things for MVC teams next year is not only do almost all teams play an anemic non conference schedule, this year in conference play, they won't play a significant opponent during the conference season. Let alone get a win. It's hard to imagine a team getting much more than a #12 seed at best next season. Until the teams get better and the schedules get better there is going to be a lot of sour grapes. There will be a lot of blaming everyone else except the league itself.
