Yes, Hield is a great player and he will be rewarded with being picked high in the June 2016 NBA Draft.
However, I don't know about you, but I am almost relieved I don't have to be subjected to any more stories about Buddy and his family, his upbringing in the Bahamas, and his relationship with his mother.

Yeah??¦.I know??¦it's like once there is good story line it needs to talked about endlessly??¦..of course from 13 minutes on there wasn't much to talk about in regards to the game

      • at least that beats the repeated attempt to paint cheaters like Boeheim & Roy Williams as great guys and HOF coaches when we know they will invent fake courses and hire ringers to do their kids' coursework just to stay eligible

        • What a great final game. Both teams played tremendously. Villanova with another hot-shooting game- 58.3% overall, and 57.1% from three, and North Carolina shooting 64.7% from three, and out-rebounding Villanova 36-23.
A three pointer by UNC's Marcus Paige tied the game 74-74 with 4.7 seconds left, then Villanova scored on an unbelievable last second three by Kris Jenkins to win the game 77-74-

          • I agree. What a great game. I thought Villanova got some calls throughout the game but it was a great game nonetheless

            • Only fitting that the game would be tied with an off balance three with under 5 seconds left by UNC's Paige, then won by the underdog Villanova with another long three as the clock ran out. You couldn't script it any better.

              • enjoyable game to watch- glad a constantly cheating program did not win...
..but at least the UNC players don't have to worry about getting razzed by their classmates tomorrow since all their classes are imaginary

                • I just wish the players would get a little more press coverage instead of the gurus making it all about themselves and all about Michael Jordan, Rollie Massimino, and the referees.
Kirk Wessler can't seem to get over the idea that Houston has a lot of traffic - gotta wonder if he's ever been on the Dan Ryan??

It is so obvious what it takes to win & consistently be a great team...
-a good point guard, ballhandler who can score when needed
                  -good outside shooters
-decent big men who can defend, screen & score some inside
                  -avoid turnovers

but I see that our staff is well on the way to accomplishing all these - after 4-5 years of never seeing even one of them addressed

                  • Wow - an enormous 37% drop in viewers this year compared to last year!!!

This was a good game but NCAA shot themselves in the foot and will lose millions in future ad revenues since their ideas fell so flat...

-they should have NEVER gone with a cable-only concept...essentially none of the late round games on broadcast TV...everything on cable
I guess they don't realize there's still a lot of people that either DO NOT have cable and still get broadcast TV, and a lot of others who have just the most basic cable packages and do not have the channels (like TruTV) that are required to watch some of those games.

-then they kinda engineered it so all the smaller schools that would have made for good matchups and interesting games - all got axed early - and I think there was a certain distaste that people saw in watching games between big, cheating schools like Syracuse & UNC.

whatever - 37% plunge in just a single year's span is unprecedented!

I think it had to do with being on cable...I don't know what's on CBS on Saturday or Monday nights but maybe overall they made the same or more money with that programming...I have no idea..

I don't think the small school stuff or cheating accusations had anything to do with the drop.

                      • I might disagree-- there were big-school games like Providence/USC that I wouldn't care at all about, yet the mid-major games like Wichita vs. Vandy or Texas vs. UNI that I made sure I caught...

I have to think there are millions of mid-major fans like me that lost a lot of interest once the smaller schools were all wiped out...
but we stayed intensely engaged when teams like Wichita, MVC teams, VCU, Butler, etc... advanced to the Sweet 16 and even Final Four in recent years.

I think males in the 30 thru 60's age group reflect the EXACT market they want to reach with all their beer, Viagra, and car ads....so you really think it didn't matter that a lot of those fans didn't care as much when the mid-majors all exited?

there may be some...certainly regionally.....but people on the east and west care about Providence and USC....but could care less about UNI....

Heck, most mid major fans are BCS basketball fans too....

                          • Consider myself a bit of a college hoops junkie, but once it was just BCS schools, I completely lost interest.

It seems like the NCAA powers that be are going out of there way to kill college hoops by tilting the game so much toward the BCS schools.

I agree that the cable situation is part of the reason that the viewer numbers dropped, but I think there are more than few college hoops junkies like me that could care less about the P5 programs who are sucking the life (and interest) out of the college basketball.

The NCAA is stepping on the throats of the other 270 D1 programs in order to make the P5 teams into America's teams. Think this is backfiring and a ton of the fans of the non-P5 schools are just moving away from college hoops. Sad, but that's just the way it is now.

I'm in the same camp with ValleyClimber. Tune into ESPN any night of the week in the winter and see the Power5 teams playing one another. When the tournament gets down to that, for me, it becomes an "I've seen this all year" event. I love cheering for the teams that don't get on TV, that don't have 4-5 star recruits lining up for a chance to even sit on their bench, that face enormous odds of getting into the tournament because even winning their conference isn't enough -- they have to win their tournament too, whose athletics budget is a fraction of the big boys, but if given a chance to compete on a neutral court often beat all those odds by playing better and smarter team basketball.

That all being said, the championship game was phenomenal. And I can't wait until next year for BU -- heck, I can't wait until the spring signing period and seeing who we add to our team of maturing sophomores (and Donte!).
