A freshman at UNLV Derrick Jones...
He was a full qualifier last summer, got a good score on his ACT, was admitted, enrolled, and cleared....
He is one of their best players - averaging over 11 ppg
Now he is suddenly being deemed a non-qualifier and fully ineligible.
His attorney claims NCAA demanded a review of Jones' ACT score prompting a requirement for Jones to take it again - which he has declined...
but NCAA claims they had nothing to do with this and that the ACT people have simply reviewed his test from last year (because other people who took it on the same date at the same site had suspicious scores) and de-qualified the score- as they once did to Derrick Rose & ISU's Kenyon Smith.
This obviously won't get resolved for a while so the kid is done for this season and could lose his scholarship - but could be eligible next season if his current academic work is adequate or he may have to go juco.
