  • We need a Post-Season Banquet this year

Not to get ahead of ourselves, since we still have several games to win...but........

We need another event kinda like the Tradition Plays in Peoria banquet last spring...

but this one can be kinda casual...OK to hold it at Ren-Col so it isn't so difficult to plan or reserve some other facility...and will keep costs down...
Maybe have hot dogs, pizza, or chicken & spaghetti like the Itoo Supper - but also consider a nicer buffet line in case some of our long time fans would prefer that.
Maybe a Saturday afternoon with things for kids....
even maybe open up one end if the Mitchell JJ Anderson Court for kids to shoot some hoops with the players like what the team did last fall - LINK

I believe if we have such an event it would be a huge success despite the overall W-L record - and it will inspire our returning players by showing them how much the fans & community are behind them.

BTW- does anyone recall our last post-season banquet?
It was back in 2009 and we have never had either a preseason nor post-season banquet since.
It was pretty much held YEARLY and was a massive success with sellouts almost every season - LINK - LINK -
especially 2006 when we drew between 950-1,000 people and had to move the event to the Civic Center exhibition hall!

It is a tradition that fans will love & appreciate!

    Post Season Banquet

I agree 100% with t....We need a post season banquet to close out this season and show the team and coaches that we are 100% supportive of what they are doing to bring the BU program back where we want it.

and then start some summer planning - how about some of those open practices for fans that were talked about and a cookout for boosters!

(ps- I know there's no slow time of the year for the staff - even the off-season is packed with preparation, planning, recruiting, etc...so I
am not trying to add extra burden to the staff - BUT...just letting them hear that the fans are still engaged in the off-season and would love to have
more of these events......I am convinced that lots of people would attend and they'd be fund-raisers - remember, 1200 people paid $25 each
      for the Tradition Banquet)

Some other threads that discussed other ideas and suggestions the fans have

the first couple years 2007-2009, that they held the fall BU Basketball Tailgate at a soccer game with a tent for BU Basketball...
and refreshments & a chance to meet & greet all the staff & players...those were HUGE successes and well attended.
I know Dr. Cross didn't want those kinds of events for some reason, but every other school does them...

Here's a column by Dave Reynolds that wraps up what's gonna happen between now and the end of March... no mention of any banquet or fan-related events...

        One comment is about recruiting..

In between recruiting travels, Wardle will conduct individual meetings with
each player. The purpose of the meetings is primarily to gauge commitment
level to the program so decisions can be made on roster construction for the
        2016-17 season.

Currently, Bradley is one over the limit of 13 scholarships for next season,
including its two verbal commits. BU has 10 players with eligibility remaining
??” freshmen Callum Barker, Davante Cooper, Scottie James, Dwayne Lautier-
Ogunleye, Joel Okafor, Antoine Pittman, Ronnie Suggs and Luuk van Bree,
sophomore Donte Thomas and junior transfer Alex Foster.

Officially signed are guard Nate Kennell and center Koch Bar, both incoming
freshmen. Verbally committed are incoming freshman guards Jayden
        Hodgson and Darrell Brown, Jr.

Further commitments are likely on hold pending the results of the individual
player meetings. Wardle expects that not everyone will return.

???It all comes down to what personnel comes back next year,??? Wardle said. ???I
like all the kids we have in the locker room, but I know some of them want
to play more, which happens every year. We??™re prepared for that because
there will always be one or two kids who aren??™t going to be happy. We??™ve
been recruiting all year to put ourselves in position so we??™re not caught
empty handed. After these meetings over the next couple of weeks, we??™ll
move forward and see where we??™re at as far as scholarships.???

Although Wardle didn??™t say it, odds are at least one of any potential new
additions will come from the junior college ranks, both for an injection of
experience and a better balance of classes."
