When a team shoots 18 more times than you do you're not winning. Our inability to have any kind of a consistent offense once again reared its ugly head. The fact that we stayed in the game for as long as we did is a testament to our never say die attitude, which will pay off in the long run. Hopefully Luuk's issues won't affect him the rest of the season. Hopefully we'll solidify the 8/9 seed with a win against Drake on Saturday.

I think the problem in part is that our practice squad isn't exactly DI-level and our guys are maybe not ready for the DI defenses

and again, Scottie James had 6 rebounds, 6 pts and zero fouls
and we need Ronnie, Callum and Luuk to stay out of foul trouble -

Anthony Beane's 6 point game last night knocked him out of the MVC scoring lead. D.J. Balentine scored 26 points last night in Evansville's win at Drake to take over the #1 spot with 3 regular season games to go.-

        Overall scoring stats-

        Conference-only stats-

Another noticeable thing is how many seniors are among the top scorers in the MVC, more this year than in most previous seasons.
12 of the top 20 scorers are seniors, including 4 of the top 5 scorers, and 10 of the top 14. So should we expect another noticeable dropoff in the level of the MVC again next season?

Almost certainly, this season all 5 of the All-MVC 1st teamers will be seniors, and probably the majority of the 2nd team and Honorable Mention members will be, too.
Last season (2015), only 1 member of the All-MVC 1st team was a senior (Seth Tuttle), and only 2 of the 2nd team were seniors (Tekele Cotton, Daishon Knight).
In 2014, only 2 1st teamers were seniors, and I can't find the last time the 1st team was all seniors.

if you had to list the very top returnees for next season in the MVC the list would be current underclassmen on the bottom teams in the MVC and a few guys who play secondary roles now..

here would be my top 25 among those players expected to return or be on rosters next year...
          Dequon Miller
          Reed Timmer
          Brenton Scott
          Paris Lee
          Mikyle McIntosh
          Chris Kendrix
          Deontae Hawkins
          Sean O'Brien
          Bola Olaniyan
          Donte Thomas
          Shaq Morris
          Mislav Brzoja
          Mike Rodriguez
          Obediah Church
          Luuk van Bree
          DLO
          Ronnie Suggs
          Antoine Pittman
          Callum Barker
          Scottie James

I would include Kale Abrahamson, and Graham Woodward of Drake, Khristian Smith of Indiana State, Jaylon Brown of Evansville, Jeremy Morgan of UNI, and Milton Doyle of Loyola, who are all averaging double digits

I'm enjoying seeing the growth of this team.
Guys like D-Lo, Donte, and Pittman are tenacious. They will only get better.
Proud of our group and we are seeing things come together more. We still don't really have the talent to be a Top 5 team in a year or two even when these current guys get more experience, but with 1-2 new guys, we should see a boost in scoring next season.
