Dave Reynolds article says we need a point guard...

    a few observations..

-again- this is pretty much just what we have all been saying since day-1 of the Geno Ford era
We have really needed a good point guard since Sam Maniscalco ...and we had a couple point guards coming in when the coaching change happened in 2011 ...
Dave hailed Anthony Fields and the "difference-maker" who filled that position.

We struggled without a point guard under Geno but now it has become an issue worth writing about, even tho our current coach simply didn't have the luxury of time to get who he wanted - he had to fill the roster with who he could get last spring.
Coach Wardle's primary focus in the recruiting he's doing appears to be getting depth at point guard -

Also, Dave Reynolds chooses not to list Sam Maniscalco as an effective point guard. He lumps him in with Eddren McCain (who really never played much here) and Dyricus Simms-Edwards who was never a point guard. We averaged 20 wins per season while Sam Maniscalco was our point guard, plus Sammy put up 105, 110, and 114-assist seasons, 12-13 ppg and very few turnovers. And you wanted the ball in his hands late in games since he'd hit 80% of his FTs.

-I have no idea what is in store for the point guards on our current roster - but to lump them in as disappointments among the point guards little more than halfway thru his freshman season may be a bit unfair.
