        Drake releases their non-conference schedule...

DePaul, Iowa State, then it drops off quite a bit - Fresno State, UM-KC, South Dakota & South Dakota State
No exhibitions noted...and their game vs. Iowa State is in Des Moine but officially it neutral site (Wells Fargo Arena - 17,000 seating capacity) and not in their home arena
DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's basketball team will play six home games as part of its 12-game non-conference schedule announced Friday, July 1.

Bradley's non-conference schedule has been out almost 2 months. ISU jusr released their today-
The Illinois State men's basketball team will play games against at least five 2016 Division I postseason qualifiers – including three NCAA Tournament teams – and five opponents who won 20 or more games last season as part of the Redbirds' 2016-17 non-conference schedule, as announced by fifth-year head coach Dan Muller Tuesday. Start times have yet to be determined.

            ISU Non-conference schedule-
The official 2024-25 Men's Basketball schedule for the Illinois State University Redbirds

They will play against Xzavier Taylor and IPFW in their first home game on Nov. 16.

ISU may have just released theirs today but it's better than ours. Our only decent opponents are Ole Miss, TCU and maybe Nevada. At least they play Murray State, TCU, New Mexico, Tulsa, St. Joseph and maybe Utah.

Yes, I think it is better than our 2016-17 schedule, but Bradley intentionally scaled back the schedule a little this season. ISU needs a good non-conference SOS this year so they stand a chance of getting an at-large bid.

other than St. Joe's & maybe Hawaii, which of those look to be stronger this year than last year or look to be a top 100 RPI team...?
only two of them (Tulsa, SJU) were better than the MVC average RPI and Tulsa lost 7 of their top 8 players...so they could well be way, way down
St. Joe's lost their best player but they should still be a Top-50 team.

Obviously things still wait to be seen but if we get Houston in Florida, then Ole Miss we could have two top 50 opponents and they might have none...

it appears they might end up getting Hawaii at the tourney and that may be their toughest game as it's very hard to go there and beat them.
They were 17-3 on the Island last year and clobbered Northern Iowa - the most embarrassing non-conference loss UNI had.

I don't know which of the teams, if any, on Illinois State's schedule will be top 100 teams. I am fairly confident Delaware, Southeast Missouri State, Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, Hofstra, Ball State, Nevada and Vermont or Wofford won't be either, all of which are on our non conference schedule. I would much rather see us play the likes of Murray State, New Mexico, Tulsa, St. Joseph, IPFW, Hawaii and San Francisco or Utah, all of which are or potential non conference opponents of ISU. There is no comparison of the two non conference schedules.. As Da Coach said, BU definitely weakened their schedule this season to get some wins. If the coaching staff and athletic director feel it is in the best interest of the program to play weaker non conference teams so the players can get wins, that's fine. It doesn't change the fact that Illinois State's non conference schedule is better than ours. Even though ours was completed first. I know which schedule would generate better walk up sales at Carver Arena......and it aint ours.

well, we're not going to get Ole Miss at home every year- we do have to go there sometimes but they still oughta be a solid opponent..
and what the heck is wrong with Hofstra - their RPI was Top 50 - a lot better than most of ISU's upcoming foes... and a hundred points better than any Jank non-con opponent..

They have UT Martin, IPFW, Ferris State, IUPUI - none of which are gonna draw in big crowds..and it's funny that when we had TCU, it actually dropped our RPI compared to the rest of our opponents because they ended up with a 180 RPI

I didn't say ISU didn't play any weak opponents. All I said is they have a better non conference schedule than we do this year. It's really as simple as that. And what is the significance of Jank to the two schools non conference schedule. He is irrelevant. I was even trying to be nice by not mentioning the high powered program of Illinois-Springfield. They are on our schedule also and aren't an exhibition game. I guess that equals out ISU playing Ferris State. If they can do, we can too. I guess I shouldn't be too tough on the Delaware Blue Hens either. If I remember correctly they beat us last year. They're a real good team too.

Evansville announces their non-conference schedule - all but one or two are winnable by any solid MVC team...
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Six postseason teams, five 20-win squads and four conference champions comprise the non-conference schedule for the University of Evansville men's basketball team in 2016.

-One tough BCS game - at Louisville
-Seven mid- to low-major opponents (Morehead State, Toledo, UNCW, MTSU, Boise State, Murray State, Austin Peay)
-Three really low major opponents (Alcorn State, BGSU, Norfolk State)
-TWO Division III opponents (Wabash College, Mt St. Joseph) - that's kinda puzzling...
