Originally posted by Da CoachYes, he said JC is doing some workouts and has no pain, but hasn't been cleared to play yet.
He reviewed the games, and took calls. He also mentioned his son scored 40 points in a game for Notre Dame HS (freshman team?).
JL said he didn't score 40 his entire freshman year.. lol???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

During the show one caller asked a question about playing in the Great Alaska shootout and Jim basically confirmed they were looking at it. The caller said there was something in the paper but I cannot find anything in the on-line edition (I don't live in Peoria). Can anyone tell me what the paper said ? Are they talking about next year ?houstonbrave

I heard that caller. He asked about Bradley's participation in next year's Great Alaskan Sootout. Jim Les was surprised to hear the question, because nothing has yet ever been announced about Bradley participating in this event. The caller did say he read about it in the Journal Star.
Here is what I think happened-- a few days ago, in an article about the Bradley women's basketball team, there was a mention of the BU women participating in the Great Alaskan Shootout. This was announced by Bradley about a month ago--
After playing in tournaments in warmer climates in 2005-06 (Coral Gables, Fla.) and again this season (Dallas, Texas), seventh-year Bradley women's basketball head coach Paula Buscher will take her team north next season for the 2007 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout (Nov. 20 and 21) as the University of Alaska-Anchorage recently announced the tournament field for the 2007 event.
The article was clearly talking about the women's team, but this caller must have looked at it and not read it closely, and though it was referring to the men's team being in the Great Alaskan Shootout. But to my surprise, Jim Les conceded that they have signed an agreement that allows them to back out if certain conditions do not happen, but that the Bradley men are planning to be in the Alaskan tournament. He said they did that as a way to play close to Will Egolf's home.

I thought BU was signed up to be in the South Padre event? I would think we'd be better off playing in Alaska when Egolf was atleast a sophomore..... frankly, I was kinda liking the idea of the South Padre Tourney. You get 2 home games to start, then play likely a Big 10 team in the semis on a neutral court, and have another good opponent in the other game... Plus the games are on CSTV in Padre, and/or a nice Thanksgiving trip to the warm weather....

Artcle stated that we were going to Alaska along with Les's first school Clevland State, Santa Clara, and Anchorge. It was about the men, and the dates were 11/20-/11/21, which incidentally are a Monday and a Tuesday!
Jim did say, there is a cancellation clause!

Grassman - take a look at the link Da Coach cited above... those teams are listed in the release for the women's team. I am pretty sure the Great Alaskan shootout has 8 teams for the men, not 4. I am saying the Braves will be in the shootout in 2008 or 2009, not 2007. Just a hunch.

When referring to the Braves It evened mentioned that Santa Clara was their conference champ last year, which I believe the men were.
Personally, I have never heard of a womens tournament in Alaska.
