D Lo ???

I do not understand why D Lo is so reluctant to shoot the ball. In all of the videos last year prior to him coming to BU, he shot very well and hit 3 s from the NBA line. He drove more and seemed quicker overall. Now his game seems to have changed. He is slow and deliberate, doesn't shoot threes and drives to the basket less. At this point it looks like his game has degenerated and he isn't helping us very much. What has happened?

It may be from fatigue. It may also be due him playing against quicker, stronger and much better competition than he played against in Europe. The quality of basketball in Europe is nowhere close to where it is here in the United States. That is why so many players from the United States, that aren't good enough to play in the N.B.A., go to Europe and play. That is also why the professional leagues in Europe, limit the number of players from the United States, on their European rosters. Otherwise their rosters would be dominated by Americans. This is similar to baseball. In baseball, players that can't play in Major League Baseball, often go to Japan and play, where they limit the number of foreigners on the roster.

As for the videos from You Tube and recruiting sites, I don't put much stock in them. They are almost always highlights from games. You very seldom see the featured player making turnovers, getting burned on defense or missing most of their shots in the videos. They are essentially promo films of the player.

I think DLO will be alright in the long run. He is just finding out what most of us already knew.

Vent....You may be correct in some of what you say. However, I am concerned about D Lo not playing nearly as well now as at the beginning of the season. It appears to me that his skills and level of play have deteriorated quite a bit.
I agree with you about the videos highlighting only good plays. However, the videos on D Lo were in many cases not just highlights. They were long enough that his basic skills could be seen and in my judgement, he isn't playing nearly as well as he did last spring and summer. He is very tentative, reluctant to shoot, doesn't drive to the hoop as much. and doesn't pass the ball very well. My question still is, what has happened to change his game?

If it isn't from fatique, it may be from the scouting reports other teams are compiling against him. As they make adjustments to the way he plays, he may have a hard time negating the challenges they present to him. I doubt he faced the competition in Europe that he faces here.
