New NCAA rule on hiring minorities

Right now in NCAA it is recommended but completely voluntary, but a new rule being considered, if passed
WOULD REQUIRE any NCAA school to interview at least one minority candidate every time there's a hire in coaching or athletic administration.

The equivalent to the Rooney rule in the NFL.

yup - some schools, some conferences, and some states (for the state schools) already have some semblance of such a rule.

What's odd is that the more this kind of rule has been pushed - the FEWER minorities are getting hired. If anything one might see that perhaps it is NOT working or is creating a backlash and resulting in the opposite of the intended result.
