Top Bradley reserves Ka'Darryl Bell (broken right wrist) and Scottie James (concussion-like symptoms) will miss Wed. game vs. SIU.

Bell is out 3-4 weeks. James is day to day. Both injured Sunday vs Wichita

Hurts our depth a little. Get well soon to Ka'Darryl, and I hope we get Scottie back quickly.

I must have blanked out when those happened. I watched the whole game but don't remember anyone getting hurt. Did they say anything about them in the broadcast? I'm curious on what plays it happened.

Either way, that's no bueno. Never good to see people get hurt.

idk about the broadcast since I was at the game, but they were both in the second half. Bell fell shooting a lay up iirc and played for the next two possessions without using his right hand before a ref noticed and called an injury time out. I think there was like 8 minutes left in the game. Scottie James took an inadvertent hip or elbow to the face. They looked at his nose at the time but he finished the game. To add insult to injury he was called for a foul on the shot. I believe he was guarding Shaq Morris at the time.

hard to know for sure, and maybe Ka'Darryl can get back sooner - but.... some fractures in the wrist involve small bones that heal slowly.....
minimum of 4-5 weeks in splint or cast, then the resulting weakness and stiffness from the 4 weeks of immobilization will often take several more weeks of exercise & physical therapy to get back to normal.
This his RIGHT wrist - his ballhandling & shooting wrist - and we are just 8 weeks from our potential final game.
I feel bad for Ka'Darryl, this is tough in his senior season and too late to redshirt.

I appreciate all that KDB has given to the Bradley program and hate that he has to go out this way. On a more positive note, this may actually be a positive for the team since it will better allow the younger players (like Okafor) to get more PT and develop more. This also enables Wardle to better evaluate our freshmen.

This is Joel Okafor's moment. I think he will step up.

I've had high hopes for Joel, and believe he has a much better game than he has shown. I don't think the current offense of pass-around-the-perimeter fits his Willie Scott roadrunner style, and he seems to have gotten tentative and lost some confidence. I'm sorry to see Bell injured, but with another point guard recruited (Hodgsen), these will be big games for Okafor. I'll be cheering him on.

                I hope Scottie can play...
He has been our most consistent player over the past month..
in the last six games he's averaged playing only 16 minutes per game off the bench but his production has been 8 pts/4 rebs per game and very few turnovers

In that span he has hit 14-23 shots (61%) and 5-8 from the 3-pt arc (63%) and 75% on FTs

I would love to see him play more
Not one single player on our team is averaging more than 15 points-per-40-minutes or 10 rebounds-per-40-minutes
yet in that past month span- Scottie is averaging 20 points-per-40-minutes and 10 rebounds-per-40-minutes
If Scottie can absorb some of Bell's minutes, KB is averaging only 8 pt/40-min & 2.5 rb/40-min

Thank you for your points about scoring and rebounding for 40 minute periods. It clearly shows that when Scottie plays good things happen. We need that young man in there.

I feel bad for KDB, but looking at purely point and rebound contribution, he hasnt been much of a factor in our games this year or in the past 3 years. I wish him all the best. From the facts about healing, therapy, recovery, I feel he is done, but that is ok. I love the idea that others can play in his stead. Perhaps Okafore and McBride. McBride gives it up on the court and Okafor plays hard and quick.

Scottie is a good building block. I loved his dunk during the Wichita game. He seems like a real athlete to me and we need more of that on the floor. He has the size we need in competing in the Valley.
