Box score for the Southern Illinois Salukis vs. Bradley Braves NCAAM game from January 6, 2016 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
Missouri State just knocked off UNI - we can do it, too...time to man up...
My suspicion is that when Bradley's playing bad- that everyone who cares already knows about it...
so why do we have the same coupla dunces tweeting every 45 seconds that Bradley is playing bad?
I've never seen a Division I basketball team with more turnovers than field goals (almost double). I don't care who the coach or players are. That is unacceptable.
Not much to say here. More of the same. Many of us (myself included) said it couldn't get any worse than last year.... But here we are. 2 wins (Really only 1 as I find it really hard to count the D2 Maryville game) and no hope for another. This is rough to say the least...
I agree with everyone else.....but can we just see some form of improvement ......like turn overs under 20.......you do not have to dribble in the post to put up a shot...Groundhog Day over and over....congrats to Suggs on a decent game and making 4/4 at the ft line!
As bad as having just 2 wins so far this season is, I might be able to accept it better if we saw any kind of improvement. There just hasn't been any. The inability for any of our guards to run the point even half way decent just kills any chance we have to either put runs together or prevent other teams runs. And there are just tooooooo many times we leave guys either wide open for 3 pointers or layups. You can tell by his brief appearance on WMBD after the game that BW is tired of what he's seeing too. He's going to have to use the rest of this season to decided who he wants back.
I would not be opposed to bringing in a juco PG to run the show and set up someone for open shots while collecting a couple assists......we have zero ability to dribble when an aggressive defense fronts our PG's!
Per Dave Reynolds ...the 44 pts ties the all time Bradley low score in Carver Arena.
Sure its been tough for BU fans so far, but, let's keep things in perspective:
1 I'm reasonably sure no one feels worse right now than BU's very young, inexperienced team. All were pretty good players last season and have NEVER had this experience before (losing and playing against more talented people)
2. How would a brand new team of 9 graders do vs a team of 11 and 12 graders who have played together for 3-4 years? Even if a few 9th graders were pretty good players?
3. New school, new level of opposition, new country, new coaching staff
4. Turnovers typically result of inexperience with offense/teammates, Greater speed of game, better opposition
5. Difficulty recruiting top players at a higher level with new staff late in the recruiting game.
Let's all step back, take a deep breath, and reset expectations and be supportive of this team/staff. No need to criticize, moan/groan get down on coaches/players or lack of competitiveness/execution/rapid improvement. Give Valley teams credit, they all have good players/coaches who can make younger/inexperienced players look like they have never played bb before.Every NBA team has all conference college players on their teams, yet some will still look awful playing against older/more experienced/ better players on other teams.
No need to pile on with disappointing attitudes/critical comments. No need to put more pressure on these young men than they are putting on themselves right now.
Let's give all BU players/coaches a pass this season and just be greatful BU has things in place to get better in years to come. Looking at SIU, it can be done!

Speaking for myself, I am being critical our of regression, not of our initial situation.

DLO had his 3 assists in the first 6-7 minutes an didn't have one after??¦of course if nobody makes a shot that isn't going to help either. We had 2 3's for the game and they were in the first few minutes of the game too??¦it's like we can play for 5-10 minutes but after that we cave

I can't assume that experience will make a difference. We have no sign of a shooter or even a scorer on this squad. I would guess that 4 of the freshman will not be back next year. They could be the nicest young men, hardest workers, etc. but if the bottom line is that they are not good D-1 basketball players, I will not feel bad saying that I am disappointed and this is awful to watch, unacceptable to continue, etc. We all agree that Wardle was in a tough situation coming in. I think that Suggs and James are the only players that I would like to see back next year.

Good post AZ??¦??¦it's so hard to watch though. Last night was the first night where I thought many of the guys gave up which was the most disappointing. Some of those turnovers were really unbelievable I believe Wardle and staff will get it done. It may take a little longer than even he thought but it will happen.
