Bradley has another home game Sunday against Wichita State.
Wichita State was last year's regular season conference champion, the #1 tournament seed the tournament champion, and the automatic NCAA qualifier.
But what a difference 1 year makes. This year, Wichita State is 3-13 overall, and 0-5 in the MVC for dead last place (Bradley is now 0-4 and they are the only 2 winless teams). So maybe Bradley has a good chance to get their first conference win of 2015-16. They need some wins, since they still have a lot of games against the better teams in the MVC.

please give Willie Scott a call.......he's having some instant success at William Penn...
he took over a team that won only 11 all year last year and only 4 conference games...
and in the first half of this season he's won 8 games overall and already has FIVE conference wins.

I talked to Willie Scott yesterday. He was in Chicago recruiting, and he's determined to build a winner at William Penn Univ. He is known as a tireless recruiter when his team isn't playing or practicing. They play in possibly the toughest conference in NAIA for women's basketball- Heart of America Conference. 5 of the 12 teams are nationally ranked or receive votes, so it's tough to move immediately into contention. He's already made WPU perhaps the best of the remaining teams- they are currently in 6th place, and he inherited a team that actually shoots threes worse than Bradley (23%).
I am sure his name will keep coming up for other jobs that open, and it would be nice to see him back at his alma mater.

More of the same problems that have plagued the team for the last few years. Bradley shot 1-12 (8.3%) from three, and 31.7% overall, but they shot just 25% and were outscored 40-20 in the second half.
Bradley also had 28 turnovers, though Indiana State (RPI 256) was credited for only 9 steals. And they had just 6 assists.
Bradley falls to 1-6 in the MVC and a tie for last place.
Bradley now ranks dead last in the MVC stats in scoring (47.0 ppg), field goal percentage (30.9%), and 3-point percentage (16.8%), and they are 9th in assists and 9th in turnovers.

Bradley has lost 9 of their last 10, and their next game is at home against league-leading Drake on Friday. For year 4, this should be unacceptable to the new administration.

I watched the games this weekend. Same old story, Selfish shooting...poor shot selections...not sharing the ball... out worked on the boards...not boxing out....and too many silly turnovers. There's a lack of concentration there and the basic basketball fundamentals are lost. A good coach could totally turn this program around.

This season was going in the right direction until the administration asked the coaching staff to change the way they were coaching the team. They were 4-4 and had just played the number #24 team in the nation to a 7 point game on the road. Since their involvement this season has gone straight downhill. It's sad but someone must speak the truth. Ask the players they will tell you. Ask them.

I need more info to understand this. How can the administration be responsible for the lack of fundamentals we see, and the fact the team is the lowest scoring team, the worst shooting team, and the worst 3-point shooting team in the league? They are also 9th in assists and turnovers. They are tied for last place this season.

How do you explain that last season (2014-15), before any of the current administration was even here, this Bradley team ranked near or at the bottom of all the same statistical areas?
They were 9th in scoring, 9th in scoring margin, 8th in FG%, 10th in 3pt%, 9th in assists, 10th by a huge margin in turnovers, and 10th in assists to turnover ratio. They were an 8th place team that season.

And if we go back 2 years to 2013-14, Bradley was 10th in scoring defense, 9th in scoring margin, 9th in FG%, 9th in 3pt%, 8th in assists, 9th in turnovers, and 8th in assists to turnover ratio. They were a 9th place team that year.

The players change, but the lack of fundamentals, the poor shooting, and the excessive turnovers and lack of effective playmaking and passing seem to stay the same, and nothing seems to improve. Most of all, the team seems to be getting worse, not better. We were lead to believe that after the coach had time to recruit his own players things would improve, but they haven't. Whatever the reasons or the excuses,
the fans are not going to keep donating their money and be satisfied with finishing at the bottom of the league year after year.
I am sorry if I sound critical of the players in any way. I am sure they cannot be happy with the way things have gone this season, or the past couple seasons. But after 4 years, there can be no more excuses. And if Coach Brooks can't turn things around and start winning, I am confident that someone else will be brought in who will.

Here's another name to consider should the talk start up at Bradley WBB...

I just bumped into one of the Bradley stars from the 1940's Bobby Garber (this page has a picture of Bobby- LINK) - who's still active - even playing golf - well into his 90's
His daughter, Jeni, was an assistant at Bradley under Paula Buscher - and kinda got run off by the President- and landed as head coach at QUINCY UNIVERSITY.

Jeni Garber has quickly turned Quincy into a dominant team...
they have just won their 8th in a row, they are undefeated at home, and are 18-2 and ranked in the TOP 20 nationally.

This will be her 5th winning season in a row there, and the third of 20-wins or more...
and her current overall record at Quincy is 93-42 in 4+ seasons.

She is born & raised in Metamora, played at ICC for Lorene Ramsay and would love to coach at the DI level again but given the circumstances surrounding her departure- I know it might be an uncomfortable fit. I guess time will tell as right now, the BU WBB head coaching spot is not open.
