  • Rick Pitino gesture to the Kentucky fans

on his way out of Rupp Arena Louisville coach Rick Pitino appears to extend his middle finger to the crowd...
Though some are claiming he flashed a "L" for Louisville

Louisville had the ball, down 75-73 with 12.5 seconds left...
They called a timeout and had plenty of time to devise a play and of course knew what was going on.

And yet they inbounded in the backcourt, Kentucky wasn't really even pressuring...UL took plenty of time to advance, then made a pass to the wing and backed the ball way out again...
then as the final couple seconds ticked away, they launch a horribly desperate & hopeless fade away shot from 25 feet that had absolutely zero chance of even hitting the rim. Maybe if they were tied, the final 12 seconds could have been played that way.. but not when you are behind by one simple basket.
You advance the ball, then promptly drive or pass to an open player and get at least one shot with a few ticks remaining so that if you miss, you can rebound or foul - you don't kill the clock, pass on several chances then wait 'til the buzzer goes off and throw up a completely useless shot. And this was the play coming out of a timeout....I have very little sympathy for them.
